Hypothetical - WDW in 2014

Once the cruise is booked, then we have the long countdown to the 7 month mark prior the trip to WDW.

So my question is this. What has been your experience in getting a 1 bedroom at the 7 month mark for early December or late September?

We are not tied to one specific resort but would prefer to get the most for our points. We are thinking BWV or BCV. Even SSR would be fine with us. However I think we prefer BWV due to the distance to Epcot.

Thoughts? Should I plan a September cruise or a December cruise?

We own at VGC, and I'm guessing since you live in California and are talking about the 7 month availability you might too. We are planning an early December cruise/WDW stay this December, (planned around birthdays so the time of year was not negotiable for us) and booked the cruise as soon as it was available, but didn't want to gamble with not being able to get an Epcot or monorail resort at the 7 month mark.

This may be an anomaly, but I had a surprisingly easy time finding a couple of owners to trade my home resort priority with for VGC, here on the DISboards and on the other DVC forum that shall not be named. They wanted trips within a few months of the one I wanted to take for about the same number of points, only they owned at BLT and BWV and wanted to go to VGC, and I wanted to go there, so we did a simple reservation swap.

I spent awhile trying to find points to transfer into my account with the plan of renting mine out once I got the points I needed, but it turned out to be easier to find swaps instead.

Just a thought if you decide to go for early Dec.

This is what I was going to suggest. Although I do think you should be able to get a 1 br (they fill up last) early Dec. doing a swap will ensure you have the location you want.
