Hyperemesis Gravidarum- anyone been through this?

I'm looking up pregnancy discrimination laws right now-not sure what good it'll do.

But I just keep thinking- would they fire me if I had cancer and had to miss work to recieve chemo treatments? Or what if I had broken my back? I bet not.

I'm no lawyer but I think you have a good case there. Were you full time or part time? The way it was when I worked (8 year ago!) if a pregnant employee was full time, you were required by law to hold her job for her after her maternity leave or else it was discrimination. I can't imagine them being justified to let you go for being undependable when you have a legitimate medical condition. Did you ask them if they want you throwing up on the customers/ co-workers? Pregnant women should have rights.

Oh, and those sea-sick bands helped a lot with the throwing up!

I'm so sorry to hear about the hyperemesis and the job loss. I can't believe they let you go for being out sick. It's not like you were off having a great time! Be sure to look into receiving unemployment benefits too. I hope you feel better soon!

So sorry about your job! And even sorrier your sick! I had that too. I lost 34 pounds the first five months and was hospitalized several times. The good news is it went away in the sixth month and I gained 40 in the last three!! It's true everyone is different, but I definately did better if I didn't drink anything until 30 minutes after I eat. The good thing about the medicine was that at least I slept between trips to the bathroom!
Hang in there. You really will make it.

ANd whoever mentioned that just looking at a toilet was enough to make thempuke- I totally get it!!

I asked my dh, "WHY do I feel compelled to vomit in every freakin toilet I see?"

Trust me, I think everyone who has been through this has uttered those exact words!
