Hyatt Sunset Harbor in Key West

Anyone stayed there or known someone who's stayed there? Any thoughts?

I tried to do an II trade there for our Key West trip in July 2006. I was on the wait list for 8 months and a trade never came through. We ended up renting out enough points to pay for a 2BR condo rental in Truman Annex (which worked out GREAT, 2 blocks from Duval Street!!). We walked by the Hyatt Sunset Harbor several times. It looked like a beautiful resort. Good luck!

I own at the Hyatt Beach House but traded into Sunset Harbor (2 bedroom) this past Fall and it was pretty nice. Location is perfect and the resort is beautiful. If you have any questions, please let me know.

How often do the Key West resorts come through from being waitlisted? In a perfect world my family and I were looking at going for the week between Christmas and New Years 2008 to one of the Key West resorts, but if it’s fairly unlikely to get a room, or find out about it until 30 days before the proposed trip, I might not want to get my family's hopes up.

How often do the Key West resorts come through from being waitlisted? I believe Hyatt controls the weeks given to II and if that's the case we can say essentially never. The changes of getting that week regardless would be slim to none.

I waitlisted for 8 months and had 4 different weeks looking for a match. I was really disappointed that nothing came through. I am a big time long-term planner and not being able to book our plane tickets was driving me NUTS!! I finally gave up and booked the week that we really wanted at a condo, booked our flights and then rented out 120 points. This was ~ 12 weeks before our trip, which was just too close for me. Good luck!
