I recently stayed a few nites at the Hyatt Place right at the US entrance, and wanted to share my experience. Was on a bit of a budget this year, so wasn't able to stay onsite, but wanted to be close. There wasn't much info I could find on Hyatt Place (reviews, etc), so I was a bit nervous as the few things I did read had negative remarks about the bathrooms, and a few other things I can't remember off the top of my head.

This hotel is GREAT! They are remodeling all the bathrooms. I don't know if I had a recently remodeled room or an older room, but thought everything about our room was so nice! We had two large beds, along with a comfortable sofa that turned into a surprisingly comfortable bed. I've had two neck surgeries this past year, and I'm about 4 months pregnant, and I was quite comfortable sleeping on the pull out. --- I was nice and gave baby brother and sister the beds ;) --- The separate toilet/shower area from the sink/vanity area was really nice, the bro could shower while sis and I got makeup/hair/etc ready.. There is also a large mirror with a sink/vanity above the fridge, so I used that alot of the time. There is a large desk in the fridge area as well.
I've NEVER had a hotel room as clean as this room. I've never walked without flip flops on a hotel floor before (seriously, never) but was fine here. I can't stress how clean my room was! The whole hotel was actually quite clean, even the dining area which at past hotels got cluttered during the morning, was always being swept or wiped down by someone.
My only remark that may be construed as negative, even though it's not, is that the food room is a little small for the large amount of people trying to get in, but I only experienced that one day when we went down at 9:15 and I think there was a big rush to get in before closing at 9:30.

All in all, I will definitely be staying at the Hyatt again, and will be recommending it to anyone that asks!

Just remembered right before I posted so thought I would add, we didn't use the pool at all, but thought that it looked a little tiny. I only ever saw one person swimming.

thank you for your review of your stay there.

this will help others that are deciding where to stay off site.
it gives them another choice.

what type of costs are the rooms at the Hyatt?
are there any service fees?

I stayed at the Hyatt last month, it was about $105/night.

Loved the hotel, I'll agree with everything the OP said. Also a fairly easy walk to Universal. Only did the walk once, but it was very easy. That one major road is a breeze to cross as long as you do it at the crosswalk and wait for the signal.

Thanks for the review! I'll definitely add this to our list of possible offsite hotels, although we generally stay onsite for most nights. It's nice to have a hotel offsite for our last night in Florida.

I paid $92 per nite + tax. The only service fees (that I noticed) were for the purchase of movies on the television as well as snacks/drinks at the bar downstairs. They don't have normal room service, but have an option where you can go down to the dining room and use a touch screen kiosk to order food for $$. They had quite a decent selection of food also.. I had a hard time choosing what to get us for dinner until my sister said we should get take out from TGI Fridays (which is right down the street, within walking distance).
That was another real nice option, we got take-out and brought it right back to our room to chill, watch movies, and eat.

I just honestly couldn't get over how clean it was when we were there, even with construction going on (for the bathrooms). I overheard a woman complaining about the toilet/shower area being too small and the concierge said they were making them larger. I didn't personally have a problem with mine, so I'm not sure if I had a remodeled room or an old room. Guess I"ll find out next year when I go back!

I agree, was nervous about crossing that many lanes with my younger siblings, but was a quite easy.
