Hyatt mco ?

We just booked for end of September so haven't travelled yet but this is the info I got from Disney and hyatt.

1. We booked through Disney and got a flat rate for the hotel room and shuttle, as well as for transporting our luggage from our room to the cruise.

When I checked with Disney they quoted me a rate for the Hyatt that was more than booking it ourselves and did not mention transfers. :confused3

Can you provide some more details on how you booked this and perhaps cost... was the transfers with DCL ?

Has anyone else done this?

Thanks - I always learn so much on these boards!!

I called DCL, just a few days ago and asked to book the Hyatt as well as the transfers to and from Port, which also included the transportation of my luggage from our room at the Hyatt to our room on the cruise. The price they gave me was inclusive of all taxes and fees.

When I looked at booking things separately while at first it seemed I could get the hotel cheaper elsewhere, by the time I added all the taxes and fees, plus the $10 to transfer our luggage etc it was comparable.

I may have saved a bit doing it separately but because I am travelling with my mother and my two kids (one of which will have his wheelchair and walker), I felt like this was just simpler and had less of a chance of getting screwed up.

Is this standard to now charge $10 for luggage handling fees?

The $10 luggage handling fee is for the Hyatt porter to go down to baggage claim at MCO and pick up your luggage from the carousel for you and bring them back to your room at the hotel- rather than you having to go down to baggage claim and lug them back up to the hotel yourself.
The transfer of bags from the Hyatt to the DCL ship is a free service provided to guests who use Disney Transportation to the port.

This. Also, if you really have too much luggage to handle by hand, you can always rent a Smarte Carte or two for a few dollars to load your suitcases onto and roll them yourself to the Hyatt. As mentioned above, the MCO Hyatt is not just connected to the airport, it's literally inside/above the airport terminal building. The elevators from the main floor to the hotel lobby are immediately next to one of the passenger security checkpoints.

Another option that worked for those who can't manage a full size bag and carryon all at once is to check-in first as son as you arrive. Drop off your carry on in your room and then head down to baggage claim. Did this before and bags were just coming done to the baggage claim when we arrived.

As far as renting a luggage cart and keeping it you could if you checked in first as you would just load into the elevator on the airport level near the fountain and just take the elevator to your floor and skip the lobby... And in the morning wheel it down. Smart cart is fine for the elevator size wise

Does anyone have any advice on how to get the best rate you can for the Hyatt? I know previously it was recommended that you purchase discounted Stay Certificates, but that program has changed and is no longer a real benefit.

Any recent ideas on getting good rates? I've been watching my week, and to my frustration, as it gets closer, the rates for the weeks before AND after have gone down, but the Friday night I need has stayed high.

Someone on here posted that you can join Last Minute Travel Club. You might have to do a search because they posted the discount code that you put in to join for free and I can't remember what is was. Anyway, I joined (for free) and the MCO Hyatt was at the very bottom of the Orlando area hotel list (I put Orlando airport as my search area). and the rate is $118. With tax, it was $138. (It's a standard room but whenever I have stayed there that included two beds (I think queen size) and one they brought up a roll away when we had five people). We are get there late at night and are gone early the next morning so we don't want to pay that much). That's a pretty good price. I use to always be able to get it on Hotwire for half that but I haven't tried for a few years and now I am spoiled and want to make sure that it is the MCO Hyatt so I don't try Hotwire anymore. The hotel is really nice and VERY convenient...esp if you are taking the DCL transfers. The food court and shopping is right next to the hotel. Easy Peasy! Good Luck!

Kathy

P.S. I found the discount code if you want to PM me.

Try clearing your cookies and cache (or if you use Chrome, use the incognito window)- some websites will actually track your searches and raise rates.

This is what we did (LMT) - same rate - Well worth it for a worry-free travel day:thumbsup2

I would really like to get the Hyatt at a 139 rate but it appears, last minute travel has dues, 49.99. That would mean my Hyatt rate is 189. Not thinking that is really worth it.

Does any one else have any other ideas to get a better Hyatt rate?:thumbsup2

just do a google search for LMT "free membership" - you'll find several options

Thanks for the Last Minute Travel tip. I was able to join for free, but the site is giving me problems searching for hotels (it just keeps searching and doesn't load any results). I'll try again tomorrow after clearing cookies etc and let you know how it goes!

I too was able to get the free membership, thank you. I found Hyatt MCO HAbit cost was same as expedia and the other travel sites, 229 :furious:

Maybe as my dates get closer the cost will go down.

Anyone wait till a month out to book , how were the rates?

Thanks alot! followed the instructions, got a free LMT membership and booked the Hyatt MCO for $139 total. Way more than I'd like to spend, but I'm getting there after midnight and really don't want to deal with trying to get to an offsite hotel at that hour.

39 days out and the LMT rate was the same as everywhere else $189. Ugh! How is it cheaper to stay at the parks for the night than at the airport!?
