Hyatt inside MCO

Our flight is landing at 11:56pm. Our Disney reservation is for the following day. We booked the Hyatt inside the airport to sleep for a few hours before we get the magical express to our hotel.
My question is, are there any discounts for this hotel? We got the AAA discount but it still costs a lot for about 6 hours being there to sleep.
We know we can get something cheaper but figured since it’s so late we should just stay put.

Other than the standard discounts (AAA/CAA, government, senior - only if applicable) at all Hyatts must offer, you're unlikely to find anything better than what you see on the Hyatt website or via Hyatt Central Reservations. The reason for that is simply because they don't need to offer discounts to remain full.

The Hyatt Regency International Airport has 445 rooms. According to the Orlando International Airport (MCO) website, the total passenger count on a rolling 12-month basis is over 45 million. That works out to be an average of 127,000 passengers per day. While MCO does have some connecting traffic, it's most what's considered to be an "origin and destination" airport, meaning most passengers either start or end their trip at MCO. The Hyatt Regency only needs a tiny number of those daily passengers to stay full. Hence, no discounts.

Not cheap, but coming in late, due to a delay, and also staying around 6 hours, though slightly less because of the plane's delay, crashing right way in a quiet room, after checking in with no line, perfect, and was worth it to me.

We stayed at an MCO airport hotel recently, and had to wait 30 minutes for the "free shuttle" to the hotel. In hindsight, we should have paid for an Uber. Point is, even with any Uber you are 15-20 minutes longer even going to a nearby airport hotel vs staying at the Hyatt MCO. So despite lack of discounts, in the future, if money allows, I will be staying at the Hyatt MCO. Since you're doing ME the next day, the Hyatt MCO will also make your next morning more convenient.

The cheapest I have ever booked at the MCO Hyatt was about $200 ( I can't remember the exact amount) and that was 3 years ago. Since we are DVC members, we are typically booking trips 11 months in advance. Since I can't book flights that far out, I don't ever know if it will be cheaper to fly in the night before our stay so as soon as I can, I book the night before at the Hyatt, just in case I need it. It's usually the cheapest at that point, but it's still around $250-$300.

This October, we are landing at 10:30pm. I booked the night for $263, but at the time, we were hoping to split our DVC stay which was going to require a purchase of extra points at the 7-month mark. Well, when that rolled around, we found out that there was no availability at the resort we wanted. So, since I already had the night booked (on points) at our home resort, I decided that we would just take DME at that late hour and save the $263. There's no reason for us to pay to stay at the Hyatt when I have the DVC points to use up anyways.

I'm in the minority, but the way I look at it is that you either have to make the commute from MCO to WDW when you arrive late at night or you have to get up early in the morning to do it before you go to the parks. For me, I'd rather do it at night so I get to my resort and get settled and then sleep in a bit the next morning without having to rush around and deal with a second hotel the next day. And if you don't need to be to the parks by any specific time the next day, then why NOT just go straight to your resort and sleep in? If cost is the concern, it would be cheaper to just stay one night at a value resort and would also allow WDW to transfer your luggage the next morning while you go off to the parks.

Call me a hotel snob if you want, but I had a miserable time staying at a Disney Moderate Resort. The chance that I'd stay at a Disney Value resort is slim to none...particularly at the rates they charge for glorified motel room.

I never said price wasn't a concern. If I'm going to spend the arrival night at a different hotel, it wouldn't be in a motel room if I could get a Deluxe-style room at an airport-area hotel for the same price (or even less).

I guess I just don't understand the logic. Often, the Hyatt's prices are on par with some of the moderate-deluxe resort prices. Or the price difference is negligible. So what's the benefit of staying there when you'd still have to rise early the next morning to get to WDW? Wouldn't it be easier to just sleep in at the WDW resort, already having "business" taken care of the night before?

I won't speak for Burnabas T Bullion, but for me it's about having a nice hotel room. Having stayed at the Hyatt Orlando International Airport, I can affirm that it's nicer than any Disney Value or Moderate Resort. Nicer by leaps and bounds.

As a bonus, it's going to almost always be cheaper than any Disney Deluxe Resort. That makes staying there also a big cost savings over just going directly to your Deluxe Resort. In some cases, you could easily save $400 by staying at the airport with a late arrival.

Fortunately, we don't have to agree. If you want to go directly to Disney World when you arrive near midnight, go for it.

I also heard - of you check in late - you may not get all your room wishes/desires requests
It is better to check in before noon - your room may not be ready, but your wishes/desires for a room
may have a better chance with some guest checking out and the staff being able to get your room ready
(since you are at WDW) by 4 PM.

We also would arrive at MCO at 9:30 PM - then get our luggage by 10:15 PM
If we go to the WDW resort, we would arrive around 11:30 PM

I would rather crash at the airport to sleep for the night, eat breakfast, and take the DME bus at 10 AM, to our
WDW resort, check -in, and go to EPCOT for the day.

Fair enough. I guess there will be times when the Hyatt turns out cheaper than staying that night at your deluxe resort and in those instances, a person needs to weigh whether they want the cost savings or the convenience. But similarly, I'd imagine there are times when the Hyatt is busy (for whatever reason) and their price is high and an individual has a promotional rate on their deluxe room. In the latter scenario, the price difference isn't as great so the reasons for staying there make less sense.

But at the end of the day, the benefit (or lack thereof) of staying there will vary for everyone depending on their WDW resort, the Hyatt price that night, time of year, etc.

You're contradicting yourself. If you stayed at a moderate resort on your arrival night and wanted to transfer to your deluxe resort the next day, you simply pack up and leave your bags at bell services to transfer them, and then head out to the parks. When you're done at the parks, you just head to your deluxe resort and your bags will have been transferred there for you. It's easier than staying at the Hyatt - where you still would have to pack up and transfer to another hotel 30 minutes away.

Now, if you're a self-declared "hotel snob" and just won't stay at a moderate, then that's a different scenario and personal preference.

This comes down to someone's personal preference at the end of the day.

FWIW I agree with you that I'd rather get on property than crash at the airport the night before; prefer to wake up ready to go.

which one did you stay at? we are booked at POR Royal room but are used to our stay at the Grand Floridian... will we hate POR?
