We have booked our 2005 cruise on a 8 day Western Magic and figured we would probably stay at the Hyatt the night before and after the cruise. Any room recommendations? Views, room sizes, experiences? We have DCL transportation also. Our last trip we stayed at Raddission at the Port and rented a car - that was in July, This trip is during Easter break and I would think pricing on the previous trip stay/rental will be a lot higher than just using DCL and staying at the Hyatt. Thoughts?

We've stayed at the Hyatt twice, and you can't beat it for the convenience. My DH and I had a room with a balcony (outdoors) and although we really only had a view of the runway, it was a nicely enclosed, private balcony, which was nice for having coffee in the morning. My parents had a balcony that over looked the airport & hotel lobby, and wasn't quite as nice. I would definitely stay there again ( and again) as it is so much easier than having to haul the luggage onto a a hotel shuttle to go elsewhere, and then back again. The restaurant had good food, too, and great service.
As for DCL transportation....drop it! Go with Tiffany Towncar or Happy Limo.....personalized service, MUCH cheaper, and you can arrive at port on your own schedule, not that of 100 other cruisers. We sailed for my DD's wedding last year, and thus had lots of bags and people. Even tho we had a van rented, we still had a lot of luggage. The front desk at the Hyatt gave our extra bags to DCL busses for us so that we didn't have to sit on them!
So, even if you don't use DCL's transportation, if you stay at the Hyatt, your bags could use DCL if they had to!! :p

We stayed at the Hyatt MCO last year before flying home after our cruise. We had a runway view room and loved it!

The kids loved watching the airplanes taxi and take off. I don't remember it being noisy at all. The roof top pool was alot of fun and for dinner we just walked into the airport terminal and grabbed some food.

The desk staff was very helpful as were all of the staff we met there. I think you'll really enjoy it!

We are staying at the Hyatt the night before our next cruise. We have never used a Limo Service before so I was wondering:

Where do you meet them at the airport?

What time should we ask them to pick us up to be at the terminal by 10:30 (we like to get there early)?

Then we give them a time to pick us up, right? Like 9:00 am?

Thanks!

We've stayed at the MCO Hyatt the night before our past 2 cruises. We also used a car service. We met them at the outside hotel entrance, but they'll tell you where to go to meet them. The people at the hotel will show you where to go. We left at 9:30 and were there before 10:30. It was very smooth and relaxed.

Hope I answered your questions!

That's right, I forgot to mention...even with the runway-view balcony, we didn't hear any noise from the planes inside the room. Two weeks ago, we were in Miami at the Embassy Suites Miami Intl Airport, and we were not so lucky....it was noisy.
The private van that picked us up (in Orlando) to go to the port met us at the Hyatt's valet parking, which is on the lower level of the hotel, outdoors. We got directions from the front desk. The van told us what time they would pick us up, both ways....9:00 a.m. going to port (we were some of the first there, and it was wonderful to check in, get a soft drink, take pictures, etc) and I think they came at 8:30 or 9:00 to go back to the airport. Another nice thing about a van or a town car, the wedding couple and their attendants went to the parks after the cruise, and the new in-laws to an off-site hotel, and the van took them to their separate locations for a very minimal fee.

Out of curiousity - what are the rates for a standard room at the MCO Hyatt? We were thinking about staying there the next time we go on a Disney cruise. We used Happy Limo for our 11/8/03 cruise. We did a 3-point service with them (11/5 from MCO to Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Studios; 11/8 they promptly picked us up at HRH at 9 AM to go to the DCL terminal: 11/15 they were waiting for us outside the DCL terminal for our return to MCO). This company was EXCELLENT and we would highly recommend them!!!

I think we are going to use Happy Limo for our next cruise. I am glad to hear they were waiting outside the terminal for you.

Were they easy to spot? How do you know which limo is yours?

(Can you tell we have never used a limo before....we thought it would a neat surprise for our daugthers, the cruise is for their birthday--twins).

When I called Happy Limo prior to leaving on our vacation, I arranged all the pick-up times (I believe I spoke to Diana, who was very friendly and helpful). When you get to the airport, they give you the option of hving a driver waiting for you (with your last name on a sign) based on your flight arrival time, or you can call their toll-free # when you pick-up all your bags from luggage claim. We chose the 2nd option, just in case our flight was delayed. As my husband was taking the last piece of luggage off the belt in baggage claim, I called their toll-free #. We were instructed exactly where to go outside by the curb (a specific marked parking spot, not far from baggage claim). The driver was there within 5 minutes! He took us to a Publix grocery store for some groceries, then on to the Hard Rock Hotel. As per prearrangement, a driver arrived at the HRH on Sat 11/8 at 9 AM (our last name was on a sign in the window of the van). He took us to a Walgreens liquor store to pick-up some wine and rum for the cruise (we got to the DCL terminal just after 10 AM - it was great to check-in so early, and our dd's made friends in the terminal before we ever embarked on the ship!). We had arranged for Happy Limo to pick us up at the terminal on 11/15 at 9 AM. Although we tried to delay our disembarkation, we were outside the terminal by 8:30 AM (Disney is unbelievably efficient at getting everyone off the boat!). Much to our surprise, Happy Limo was waiting for us (again, our last name was on a board inside the van's window). We were back to the airport by 9:15 AM. Just to let you know - the total price they quote you includes tip for the driver (although we always gave a little extra because the drivers were so good). Hope this helps!

Wow! Thanks 3MinnieMom! This really helps me understand what to expect!

My DDs will be SO surprised to see a Limo waiting for them! This will be a first for us! I love for there to be new things for us to experience with each trip!

We stayed at the Hyatt last week before our Magic cruise. We had Happy Limo also. We had an airport porter take our luggage the Hyatt and then the Hyatt porter took them up to our room. He asked if we were on the Disney cruise and said to leave our bags outside the room by 8:00AM and they would be taken to the port. We questioned it because we weren't taking the Disney transportation, but indeed they did take them for us. It was great not to have to get them down to the Limo. We did leave our room number with the Bell Captain in the morning just to make sure they made it on the truck.

Hi,

I just want to correct one misconception. The baggage service that DCL provides is a part of the DCL transfers package and should only be used if the DCL transfers have been purchased.

They do offer the option of paying just for the baggage transfer service if you do not want the DCL transportation.

This is just for general information only and is not directed toward any one in particular.

We have stayed at the MCO Hyatt several times and we will never stay there again. The rooms are nothing special and very expensive IMHO. We had a problem with our next trip and due to a medical procedure that had to be done we had to cancell our reservations and change them to a few weeks later. MCO Hyatt charged us a $50 cancellation fee, and this is far to much to charge. We gave them 45 days notice but still they charged us this outrageous fee. What we now do is get a room at one of the value priced resorts on WDW property and end up paying less. We get DCL transportation and even some time at the parks. Did you know that MCO Hyatt does not have any transportation to WDW.
Do yourself a favor and stay on WDW property and give your family a treat, rather than a plain old hotel room at the airport. The cost of transportation from the airport is not that much and there is much more to do at WDW.
