We have booked for the end of October with the free dining pin code and our kindergartener will miss three days of school. We are considering moving our stay to the week of Thanksgiving so that he doesn't miss any school, checking in on the 23rd, the last day of the pin code. However, DH can not come until the 26th. So, can I book for me and the three kids, then add him to the reservation when he flies down? Obviously we'd have to pay out of pocket for his dining. Can I just have him on the ressie from the 23rd, and use his table credits?

I would think this is against 'the rules'. But I don't know how anyone would know. You would have to pay for a park tickets for more days for him. But free dining should largely outweigh that cost depending on the length of your visit.
I had this same thought since SIL in joining us 2 days later. But our dates are blacked out.

And for what it is worth - I wouldn't change my dates because of my K'er missing 3 days of school. Especially not to a super crowded time like T-giving.
I am not big on pulling my kids from school. But K is the one time I did not regret doing it.
Of course it is a personal decision and depends on the K program.

I would go ahead and book husband on reservation. You do not have to purchase park tickets with your reservation for your entire length of stay (just 2 days I think) then you can add needed number of days to your park ticket and the tickets for your children. When husband arrives add number of days he needs to his park ticket. Maybe he may be able to come down with the rest of you ;)

A few years ago my daughter and her husband had to return home early but were still on my reservation until the end of my trip so I was able to use their dining credits since they were in my room. (and I did have to pay the extra $15 per day for more than 2 adults in a room

Yeah, I'm definitely not wanting to break the rules.

I also am not super concerned about him missing three days of school, but suddenly DH keeps bringing it up and how he's not crazy about the idea. I definitely appreciate your thoughts on that.

Seems to have two issues, the number of days for the park tickets and the dining credits.

You will need to figure out how many days to get for the park tickets.

For the dining credits, perhaps you and your kids can use the quick service credits first and save the table service ones for when your husband arrives.

Good luck.

And if I recall correctly EVERYONE in the room is required to be on the same plan....which is probably the reason we only purchased 2 day park tickets with our package and then added the days we needed when we arrived....some of our party stayed more days than others.

You can do either.

Adding him after you arrive: As long as you and your children arrive on the 23rd you'll qualify for FD. You are correct that by adding your husband after you arrive he'll have to pay OOP for his dining and his park ticket. If he needs DME you can arrange that after you add him to your resort res.

If he's on the package before arriving: Again, as long as you check in on the 23rd everyone on the package will qualify for FD. Everyone must have the same ticket length so make it for the number of days your DH will need. You and your kids can add days to your tickets after you use them at least once to get the gate value of the tickets. You can use his extra dining credits towards additional meals or 2 credit meals anytime during your stay. Dining credits are linked to the room and not to each person. Also give DME his flight info since it will be different from yours.

I have done this twice. First time dh came 4 days after the rest of us, (a 10 day trip), I just got us all 6 day tkts, and added extra days to all but his, and we got to enjoy his credits while he wasn't there.

Second time was this past sept. I checked in alone, and dh and 2 kids came 2 days later. Same deal with the tickets. I just booked us an extra res with the extra credits.

Both times I was able to check in with no questions asked.

I believe I had to call dme to have different flights, but it wasn't a big deal.
