I couldn't disagree more.
I re-read the post, too, and the poster DID seem to be looking for support and advice on how to pierce the iron veil of the mouse to try to get help with his now temporarily disabled DSD.
Is it really so unheard of and impossible to believe that there is a glitch in the ride that could injure someone? Why is the first suspicion of some people that the girl is at fault?
And is it really so hard to understand that a family who spent $8,000 on a vacation would want some support/help from the business where they were injured so that they could continue to maximize their vacation? Can you imagine walking on crutches thru Disney. The one thing I remember about crutches is how much it exhausts you and hurts your underarms and palms.
Wheelchairs are no picnic either.
Add to that, the romanticized views that some people have of Disney, and the level of disappointment they feel is compounded by the anticipation and trust that the vacationer had that Disney would reward their loyalty and $$$$ with"magic".
There is nothing magic about getting the run-around from a claims office, nor in going to a board you have come to trust for both sharing a love of Disney and for advice on planning and navigating Disney and getting blasted.
It's truly sad the way some people reacted to his call for help and support. He wasn't asking for help with healing his SD foot...he wouldn't expect anyone here could do that...but why else would he have posted here except for the reason most everyone else posts here...for support and help with vacation planning.
It's not like his SD foot was bleeding all over the hotel room for goodness sake...he wasn't looking for medical help here. That would be obvious, wouldn't it?
I really don't get the hostility to this guy...I really don't. It really challenges my faith in human nature.
While agree with you that the OP WAS looking for support about what to do next after all of that happened, what struck me as odd was why all the complaining about what Disney WASN'T doing for them...what the hotel WASN'T doing for them...what the hospital WASN'T doing for them. IMO, the step-father was making it more difficult on his entire family but worrying about what WASN'T being done for them, instead of taking care of everything themselves and worry about all the claims later. Why refuse the wheelchair from Disney? Still wondering about that...
Also, the OP admitted that at his job, if anything happens like that it goes straight to the claims department. If he knows the process of how all of this works, why is he so surprised that Disney acted the way they did (following procedure).
The biggest problem I have with all of this is posting your story on an internet message board and NOT expecting some negative feedback. I don't know what internet some of you are using, but I've never seen a message board that EVERYONE had the exact same opinions about EVERY subject matter. That's what makes message boards so fun. The OP (being an active member of these boards) should've known that he could possibly find some skeptical people responding to him. Especially about a ride that's been there so long without any "defects" being made public before.
I wish we lived in a world where everyone was supportive of everything we do at all times, but we don't. Some people have been scammed before, some people are suspicious by nature, some people are just naive. Message boards are no different than talking to a stranger or someone you know right in front of you. IMO, this type of situation is the same as someone posting a rumor that they heard from someone about a new ride, new theme park, etc...Some people believe them, some people question the rumor with plenty of skepticism, some people dismiss the OP with a laugh and a "yeah right"....Do I believe everything I read? Heck no. However, I don't believe in flaming anyone over anything, I feel we do have the right to question the situation, rumor, etc.
I'm glad the OP's step daughter is doing better, and I'm happy for him that the claims department is taking care of them.
