Hi! :)

Just wondering: We are at the parks from Sept 17 - 27. There doesn't seem to be any disturbances (except for Ike in the Gulf - I am praying for you guys!!) on the NHC maps.

Am I naive to assume there won't be any major hurricane development that could hamper our trip? By that I mean, excessive rain, thunderstorms, etc? Will the storm in the gulf have remnants that affect Orlando while we are vacationing?

Sorry if these are obvious questions to all you pros! This is our first time out to Florida at WDW, and I am just curious. I stocked up on ponchos last night (is it a faux pas to put a Spiderman one on my son at WDW? ;)), just to be prepared. ;)

Oh, and:

SEVEN MORE DAYSSSSS!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I have actually been wondering the same thing. I keep watching the maps and the Weather channel to see if something else comes up and keeping my fingers crossed.

I did check the 10 day forecast and it is showing some thunderstorms @ 60% chance on the 18 and 19th. Hopefully it will change before then b/c that's our arrival.. ;)

I just got back, was there 9/5 to 9/9. We arrived after Hanna (who on our first day there, Thursday, gave us one strong rain shower for about 10 minutes while we were running to our Coral Reef reservation). The first day was overcast, but not rainy at all, the sun was just hidden due to Hanna.

The remaining 4 days were absolutely perfect. NO showers or thunderstorms what so ever. There was a really quick rain storm in EPCOT on Monday night apparently, but it didn't rain in Magic Kingdom (where I was). Yesterday was sunny and breezy (breezy from Ike, I assume), but just as perfect. :)

I wouldn't even look at the hurricane information until 3 days before your trip. When I left on Wednesday night, Ike was supposed to be around central Florida on Tuesday evening. Well, come Tuesday morning, the news down at the hotel showed that Ike was coming no where close and was headed to the gulf!

Just a note, the TV @ the resorts said it would be scattered thunderstorms for the entire week we were there, and we didn't even get caught in one!

We arrive on the 18th for a 9 day stay. I just decided to not think about hurricanes. We will have fun no matter what. I am just going to think positive and enjoy our trip no matter what. Have fun and see you there!

I check the weather channel website obsessively all day at work and turn on the weather channel as soon as I get home. I sleep with the tv on, and guess what channel is ? yep. I am praying to the weather Gods and if I knew how to do a non rain-dance, I would. :dance3:

I just got back from my trip Aug 30 - Sept 6 which was right between Gustav and Hannah. I live in Louisiana and was glad I was in Fla during that time. I can say that I hope no storms come up before you leave but neither storm caused any trouble for us. I think unless a strorm is headed straight across central Fla you will be fine. I suggest you bring you ponchos and keep them with you at all times. Even if it rains still press on because alot of people won't and you can ride more in at a quicker pace. We had packed our ponchos in our luggage and left it with the hotel so when a storm hit we had to buy more, but still worth it. We had a fabulous trip with only about 3-4 hours of rain in seven days. :yay:

when do these storms usually stop?! x

Hurricane season officially ends Nov 1st. Peak season is usually late Aug and early Sept. It varies from year to year, we have had three years of quiet since Katrina and Rita but this year has been busy with Faye, Gustav, Hannah and Ike. You can't predict the weather any time of year but the crowds are lighter durring hurricane season and the kids are back in school.:cool1:
