Hurricane Milton - WDW Resorts Related Updates & Planning Thread

Good to know...headed to Epcot now and will try to grab some extras. Thx everyone!

We honestly didn’t wait to hear from Disney when we were there. We just went in assuming everything would be shut down for at least 24 hours and planned accordingly. We also were staying at CSR and didn’t want to brave the elements going to the main building so planned to be in our rooms. For this storm I would plan for 48 hours.

My sister is at YC right now (they evacuated there from Tampa). CMs have distributed tons of towels, but there have been no updates from the resort on remaining indoors/in rooms, etc. I have been bugging her to make sure she has lots of snacks and convinced her to pre-place mobile orders right now for lunch and dinner, with an assumption that she will not be able to go outside to go even to BC. I personally would have been over at Epcot this morning stocking up on snacks and stuff from the French bakery, but it has been pouring, and her daughter won't go. I'm glad they are out of Tampa, but I wish there was more communication from Disney about what to expect tonight. One CM told her that Marketplace will be open throughout, but she had to ask to get that info.

ETA: They did ask people to move furniture in from the balconies (yesterday).

An update for those needing to change their WDW resort reservations and were previously unable due to the normal cancellation policies, which we know are now lifted.

You are now able to adjust your reservations online under My Disney Experience > My Plans.

I was able to easily change my previous reservation starting 10/9 to now arrive on 10/10. I tried to do this 2 days ago and it would not let me, presumably because I was in the no-change window. In my case, they now lifted that restriction, and it was an easy adjustment. I'm not sure when they lifted this restriction, as I only tried once before.

I've waited to call because I was on the fence about canceling the trip and figured one call would be the best use of my time waiting on hold.

Don't grab sandwiches from the food court in the morning to bring back at park closing a 1 or 2. They will spoil and be unsafe to eat come afternoon.

I am guessing that the food courts will be open for limited service (sandwiches) throughout the hurricane but they will not deliver to rooms in separate buildings such as Caribbean Beach.

Talk show host Jesse Kelly told of a time he was on rest and relaxation (I forget where) from the Marines and was locked down in his room (with some buddies) during a big storm. He chanced it to the food court (where some other buddies and other guests were huddled) and got a plateful of nachos. He almost got back to his room door when a gust of wind snatched the plate sending the nachos all over the rain covered parking lot.

I assume that limited Minnie Van service means within WDW or to critical locations such as hospitals and pharmacies outside WDW.
For some of the other hurricanes, the food courts shutdown during the hurricane, when they asked everyone to shelter in place, but they did provide box/sack meals ahead of time for people to grab to eat in there rooms. I would expect something similar to happen later today. But I also remember from conversations with folks at the resorts that the lines to get those meals could get long.

We were at the Boardwalk and I think each meal was $8? and the buffet was may $15/18 or a little more if you got wine? This was two years ago so .....

IDK what consideration they gave for people who may not have budgeted for extra meals-but they probably just gave them for free- I would hope so.

Keep in mind staffing may be tighter than some storms as more people elected to evacuate their families than for many previous storms. Tighter staffing may mean services are there, but wait times increased and/or options are reduced. If the resort has to chose between mobile orders of individual items, or boxing set items, that could be one example. I'd be collecting drinks and snacks where I could find them at this point ;)

We are here now in All Star Music.
They said we can leave our room after 8pm but not the resort itself. They said the mandatory curfew only means you need to shelter where you are staying (means at the resort) but you can leave your room ...
until Disney itself says you can't. But there's no decision about that yet.

It's raining badly but the wind is not so bad yet. Hoping for the best!

Box meals are offered in the food court.

Activities are taking place at the resorts during Hurricane Milton…

Just update...we're at Music and while there still hasn't really been info put out; they did have a sign about boxed meals. I stopped and asked about hot food and they said they'll continue until we have to shelter in our rooms, but they're not sure when that'll be. Lines really were not terrible for food (similar to lines after park close), but mobile ordering was like 2+ hrs. out. They've brought all the pool activities inside and had some characters a lil bit ago. It's really been so much better than I expected. Kids are having a great time and weather so far hasbeen fine, just raining.
