PB&J & boxed lunches are all well and good if you don't have food intolerances, but I wonder how (or IF) Disney caters for food allergies during hurricanes?

It's one of the times you really have to prepare yourself. If you look at the boxes, you can buy 2-3 of different types and usually find enough fresh fruit/veg and food label things (like plain chips) you can eat for any allergy...it won't cover a nutritionally appropriate day of food, but you aren't going to starve - you just want to not be hungry and miserable.

Do they always do this?
Yes they were part of the original Contemporary design. During normal operations the doors are stored overhead like a loading dock and they use what is know as Air Doors. The doors also protect the Atrium from high winds. They park a number of Monorails in the Service barn and also store others at the other stations except in bad weather.

Then about a dozen of the Monorails fit in the Service barn leaving just 2 for the Contemporary.

I also see two of the tow vehicle thingies, upon closer inspection.
Those would be the Diesel tugs that check the beams after all clear is given and they normally move Monorails when an Engine goes down or electricity is off on the beam(s).

Probably as much as they can but i would think most people would take care of this ahead of time knowing the hurricane was coming.
Yes, we knew it's coming. We have food for days. I have multiple allergies and hardly can eat anything Disney can offer (although whole fruit and carrots/celery sticks not a bad offer healthy food wise). Luckily we had a car and we were able to buy food 2 days ago which I can consume.

They just knocked on our door asking if we need anything. They are Taking care of everyone!

I was wondering the same, however I believe they are also offering additional items, as shown on the poster shown above. Unfortunately, that’s all that’s posted on FB at this time for those resorts, so I can’t confirm either way.

No updates from my sister at YC, but she set up her mobile order this morning for dinner, so she may not see what's offered, if anything. She is freaking out (justifiably) because her house is in Tampa, so she may not be in any mindset to go down to the lobby and see what's happening - I'm sure not going to ask. I'm so grateful she is at WDW and safe.
