Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

If you had a Disney vacation booked for next week...Mon 10th - 16th would you cancel and reschedule?

Well, I'm booked for a 7:30am flight down there on 10/9 for a trip ... I'm not rebooking unless/until I'm told I have to. Should blow through by then and I figure they'll need to be flying planes in to get people out.

So since everything is closed and the parks are not opening on Friday will Disney automatically refund the MNSSHP tickets? I don't want to call and take up a cast members time when they need to be helping with guests on property. I am sure even getting through will be a nightmare. Since we live here in Florida we were driving over tomorrow. We cancelled our hotel and now just need to cancel the party...

We plan to arrive on the 12th from Colorado to Orlando airport. So far our flight is still listed. We are just watching the weather reports and reading the info on this message board. I am hoping for the best and praying for everyone. I can't make that cancel decision yet. :sad2:

We arrive the 12th also and I see no reason to even think of cancelling. What's left of Matthew is tracked to be in the Atlantic well to the east and south of Orlando as a tropical storm by 11 am the 11th, max winds 48 mph.

To be honest, I'd just wait. I can't IMAGINE that even in a week or so, if you don't see the refund that you couldn't just call then and say you need to be refunded.

Email them. Include photos of your tickets, or, the ID # of your MagicBand. You can request a refund or a 1-day park hopper that will expire in 2 years.

A reminder of just how serious this storm is: The @NWS says places could be "uninhabitable for weeks or months" (https://twitter.com/markberman/status/784084507095949312)

Don't cancel anything, but be prepared not to go down.

I sent a message to Undercover Tourist through Facebook and someone has seen it. Now I am waiting for a response. I am hoping they will give me 2 day tickets to use at a future date. My DH is contemplating canceling the whole Disney trip and saving our tix for another time (not sure when though) and going somewhere else in the USA instead.

That might be the best plan. No worries about wasting tickets, no worries about flights, no worries about storm aftermath and possible 2nd strikes...

Planning on driving up for Food and Wine on Saturday morning. Hoping they will open up. Thoughts?

No way to know. I'd say see how things look on Friday night when they'll know how hard Orlando was hit and if they're even opening up on Saturday. All of us who are hoping to come this weekend are going to have to play it by ear and be flexible.

Saturday should still be considered up in the air.

This will literally be a matter of "miles." A few to the West and Orlando/WDW will see a drastic increase in the wind speeds. A few miles to the East and it will be a bit of a decrease (although still very dangerous).

If there is a wobble to the West, then I could foresee infrastructure problems that would necessitate further closures in the WDW area beyond Friday.

We were supposed to drive down tomorrow and arrive around 6pm. I was able to move everything yesterday out one day, so now we are supposed to drive down from TN on Saturday. I keep watching that loop and wondering if we need to cancel all together. If so, when do you think my cut off is to call?

If the Board Walk villas are open and ready to receive us, we'll check in on 10/12. As of now it appears the the eye will be about 50 miles from WDW which is on the 'safer' side of rotation. At any rate we'll have a good idea of the possibilities Sun at the latest (I'm guessing), 2 - 3 days before our scheduled arrival.
