Hurricane Matthew Closes WDW - Reopens Saturday, October 8th

Yeah, I've been checking the hub periodically this morning, and they still have last night's 9:30pm update of "everything is normal, lalalalala". There's no way I'm going to work tonight, I'm scheduled from 4-11 at MK and that just ain't happening.

I was just on the hotline and it is current as of 11:05 pm last night.

That has not been communicated "officially". I just was backstage at Emporium and there is a sign on the bulletin board that contradicts that. Will post back when we get the "official" word. CM hotline has not been updated recently. Most of the times on blogs are FaceBook rumors. Some business units bay be letting their cast leave earlier than others due to operational needs.

It seems like it's a section-by-section thing. DAK cast were the first to report reduced hours on Facebook, and I'm starting to see some Epcot posts now. A lot of them are being delivered news directly, so it's taking a bit of time to get through everyone

Honestly if you're in the parks, by out by 4.
Wet & wild closing at 2. Universal closing at 5.(via twitter and news) No release from Disney.

i heard it will be a high cat 4.
We are in today and Friday not going anywhere we just need to move the cars up a little more to the garage door... am going to cook a early dinner tonight my husband is sleeping now so he can be up tonight and I'll sleep in the room with our DD's and the dogs and cats...I am going to move a few things out of the "walk in closet" to make room for all of us to go in if the eye is going over us....

Anyone know if Tampa airport is going to close? I can't find anything online. I'm flying out tomorrow out of Charlotte to NY but my flight originates in Tampa at 8:30am. I'm worried it's going to be delayed or cancelled.

I was calm last night but now I'm starting to freak out

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

You got this!

You know the drill, do all you can to secure and protect yourselves.

Keep yourself busy until it gets bad; cook and put in fridge, laundry, clean, find all the supplies you might need.

Then just grab a drink and a blanket, get cozy and watch the news so you are ready.

AND keep talking to us as long as you have power. WE ARE HERE!

May the force be with you! :darth:

Mine came from the communications department.

A number of guests are reporting being told that the parks would close at 5pm - a good amount being told at The Character Spot.

I'm working right now at MK and as of right now we are still closing at 7. There's talks of closing at 5 but nothing has been confirmed.

I'm beginning to wonder what shape the parks will be in after this....:sad2:

The parks and resorts are purpose-built with the likely hurricane-force winds that might reach inland in mind, and WDW as a whole is rated by NOAA as one of only 70 Storm Ready "communities" in Florida. This is partially why some local residents (especially those in mobile homes) shelter at WDW during storms like this. The danger at WDW is really being out in the storm, and that's why they have a room curfew during hurricanes. But major structural damage likely won't happen. Minor or cosmetic damage, yes. Again, part of their danger of being outside, hence the room curfew.

My son at AK was informed they will close at 5 PM and not be open tomorrow.
