Hurricane Irene Pics

Nothing really going on in our neighborhood. Plus I'm inside with the kids. Luckily we haven't lost power. It flickered for a bit a few hours ago, but thats it. Bunch of small branches and leaf clusters all over the yard, but nothing photo worthy.

The same here. Some flooding in the vicinity but nothing in this general area.

I'm watching breakfast TV here at the moment seeing video of a surprisingly quiet NY!! Hope everyone is OK - thinking of you all. :hug:
We had floods earlier this year, so I can relate about the rain! (And about the no rain, as we had drought for years before!!)
So wishing those with too much rain for it to stop, and those with no rain for it to start..!! :confused3

Not much here to photograph either. Wind and rain. Lots of twigs, small branches and leaves on the lawn. My birds hung around all day on the feeders. Even in the wind gusts they just hung on tight with their little feet. A very large section from an oak tree did fall into our neighbors pool.

I have a few of the aftermath in my neighborhood but we have no power and probably won't for many days. Uploading pictures through my iPad eats up all of my GB. I'll try to post some when I can.

. Can't drive in or out of our area.

Our entire area is without power as well. It was eerie last night. I did get a few pics yesterday of the surf. Wind and water damage thankfully doesn't seem too bad.

Off to figure out how to make a hot cup of coffee. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I'm glad you're safe and hope you get your power back SOON. In the mean time, I hope you can get a good cup of coffee. :goodvibes

We were without power for 4 days in 2001 after an ice storm and it was so much harder than I would have ever guessed. I still remember wanting to hug the electric workers when they finally showed up on our street!

Nothing to post here. My week long vacation to Chincoteague VA was cut a day short because all non residents were ordered to evacuate by 6pm Friday. Was hoping to get some pre-hurricane shots before I left but it didn't happen, they had the beach on the Nature reserve closed as of 10pm Thursday night. Here at home I lost a big hickory tree that stood about 10 feet from the house and fortunately it fell away from the house so its just a matter of getting the chain saw out.

Some pics looking left from our deck. Long Island Sound looked like the Atlantic Ocean.

People were canoing down our road. It was under 3 feet of water.

Our neighborhood is without power as well. Hoping it comes back soon. Wasn't too much of a fan of the ice cold shower this morning before work! :lmao:

Wow, those pictures are incredible. You really show the power of nature there. So far the pics have been from the NE USA. Imagine the power of it down in Carolina. The weather here is so mild in it's nature it is hard for me to imagine.

Wow those are amazing photos! Mother Nature at her most furious. We get cyclones (hurricanes) here but they don't travel as far as Irene did. But we also don't have the gulf stream that you have to carry them that far.
I hope those of you without power get it back soon. It is not fun to be without! Got to have that coffee, too, Linda - hope you managed to get a decent cup!! :)

Great photos...looking forward to more when your power comes back on. It is "eerie" at night; in 2008 we returned from DW a week after Hurricane Ike and most of Houston was still without power. No THAT was eerie...driving through Houston and seeing darkness almost everywhere! :eek:

luvsmickeymouse: Lots of water! Hope your home is okay;
ancestry: looks like it may be a while before the roads are open (it's hard to be patient but DH is a County Commissioner and he and his crew are responsible for road clearance in our county (among other things! :rotfl2:) ... I'm sure your public workers are doing the best they can with that enormous task;
kenny: awesome photos out your "back door"! Some powerful waves battering your land!
:grouphug: to all. :tink:

This is a walking path, just outside my daughter's home, in Winooski, Vermont:
