HURRICANE INFORMATION (AUGUST 15, 2004): All parks except TL are OPEN

Does anyone else think it's kinda weird that hurricane Charley is hitting WDW right when the Travel Channel is airing back to back to back to back episodes about WDW? They don't do this every day. I'm watching right now and I'm hoping that all that I'm seeing of WDW hasn't been demolished. I hope everyone is safe!!!!

Yes, the S&D web cam went from a gray colored sky that it had most of the day to almost a nightime look. Very scary. It happened real fast too. I pray everyone is safe!

Hulabird- Thank you so much for your post. It made me feel a lot better. I am Christian also and that's why I don't want people to think I am insensitive. I hope God keeps it safe as well as everyone else in Florida and the animals. I hope you have a great trip and I hope everything works out for you! Thanks again for your encouraging words

Miranda,

I understand what you are saying. I'm sure it is okay to pray for the safety of people as well as praying that your trip works out ok. I know that I'm praying that everyone pulls through this ok! Be safe out there!

IMO it's not insenstive at all to hope and pray that WDW does not suffer damage. Thousands of people work there and depend on it for their livelihood. It would be a terrible blow to FL in so many ways...

I've been following this on CNN off and on throughout the day-- here's hoping everyone in Florida stays safe.

Miranda I understand what you mean. :) I have friends out there right now and they were teed when the park closed. My friend is upset about not being able to get the most out of her ticket! LOL. I think I'd be upset as well.

Praying all will be safe in Florida and lets remember all the CM's who try to make our vacations magical. Hoping they all get home to their families in time to make them feel safe.

I was concerned about a line of tornados heading directly for Orlando. Any recent reports?

I don't blame anyone for being concerned about the well-being of the parks. Just because they worry about that doesn't mean they don't care about the people. I'm a Christian, too and I am fervently praying for the people in the storm's path. I am also praying that no major damage comes to the Orlando infrastructure. That would effect my entire state's economy, so it should be a concern. But like i said before, I'm not worried about WDW. I think it will withstand this blow.

My prayers are with EVERYONE..residents and pending vacationers.
I hope that everyone is safe

Disney will survive. It always will.

Thanks for the links wdw4us2...definitely first hand reporting!

I've been watching MSNBC and CNN for the last hour and they have talked about nearly every other town BUT Orlando. There's been on-site reporting from Daytona Beach, Tampa, etc., but nothing from Orlando and certainly no mention of DisneyWorld.

Does anyone have news on how DW is fairing the storm?

Thx,
Sue
**Edited to add I just read Ed's post above. YIKES!!! Hope he is OK!!!!
