 Well, it's three days before we are to leave for our vacation, and now, we are in limbo because of this stupid storm. Anyone else in the same boat? I swear, I have half a mind to leave early, before the storm hits, get to WDW and just let what happens, happen!!! GRRRR I am so mad!!

Hi there. My first post!

It doesn't look like Dennis will hit Central Florida now. I was at WDW last year for Jean and it was not bad at all. The park was closed one day, and we were at the resort having a great time. I wouldn't worry if I were you. Go and have a great time!

We were also there when Jeanne hit last year. We were staying at BWV and were told to stay inside. They provided some special channels on tv with round the clock movies (because the regular stations were only playing hurricane news which of course gets really boring fast). They also had meals available for those that hadn't bought food ahead of time. Anyway, it wasn't that bad, mostly boring. The Disney hotels are built to last and actually very safe as far as that goes. The storm wasted one of our vacation days but - oh well. I felt worse for the folks who lost personal belongings, homes, or worse. Hopefully Florida doesn't get hit this season like they did last. I'm sure they could use a break! Fortunately like the pp said it looks like it's skirting FL now. Hopefully you won't have to worry about it!

Hello, we are new to Dis but we've been around a few years.

We were there for Charlie and it sounds pretty much the same as Jeane. We were treated very well and as all4fun stated, we too felt for the Florida residents.

But we had a nice day off to take it easy even though it was blowing pretty good. I had been though several huricanes before so I knew what to expect and was not that worried. I too know that the resorts at WDW are built better than any other commercial buildings, so we figured we were more fortunate than most.

Go, have a great time, and if one comes your way, just make the best of it. The Disney staff really make it nice.

I'm really sorry that you may have to adjust your vacation. It can be really frustrating - I know, -we are suppose to leave for Jamaica on Monday however it depends on where the hurricane hits on if we will be able to fly out. One thing to remember though - while it is a inconvience for us that we may have to adjust our vacations this hurricane will be devastating for others, who may lose their houses - we need to keep them all in our thoughts and prayers. And we need remind ourselves how fortunate that we are that we are not taking a direct hit from this hurrincane. Just stay positive and you will still have a great vacation even if you have to adjust the days abit.

Thanks everyone, for the encouragement!!
I am not really worried about being at WDW if there is a hurricane, but being able to get there (from home in AL) if there is a lot of damage here!!! :umbrella: I called Disney last night and they were so accommodating... said if we should have problems arriving on time, they will work with us, not to worry etc. And DH said we are going no matter what, so I feel somewhat less anxious about it this morning!

That is great! Stay safe! When you get to WDW you can relax and enjoy!! :flower:

You're right! I meant to say something like that in my original post!! Guess I just got caught up in my pity party!

Unfortunately, WE probably will take a direct hit here at home.

Stay safe! We are on the MS gulf coast so we are watching closly too - a couple days ago I was really frustrated with our plans for vacation too( I caught myself starting a pityparty too) - and I had to sit back take a deep breath and say there is nothing that we can do about it - let's just say a prayer for everyone effected.

I was there during Ivan last year. Everyone thought I was a fool for going there since the projected path was right through Tampa and Orlando. We went anyway and all I could say was God knew I needed a vacation. We got there and for the whole week we were there we only had 12 minutes of rain. The upside was we had a great vacation. The downside was when we got home we did have some damage/debris from the storm. My reply would be to go and enjoy yourself.

We were supposed to leave this morning for WDW!!! We live in Pascagoula, Mississippi - and our 133 year old house is right on the beach!!! Needless to say, we rescheduled our trip for July 30th, and actually added an extra day!!! Times like these make me all the more happy that I used Dreams Unlimited!!! Sue Ellen took care of evrything for me in an unbelievably fast time!!! We have boarded up our house and will seek shelter at my husband's office (He is a physcian and his office is across from the hospital) very ealy in the morning!!!

Hopefully, I'll talk to you guys soon!!!

Take care!!!
