Huntington Beach to Universal Studios

We'll be driving from our lodging in HB to Universal Studios on a week day morning (first week in June) - is one route better than another in terms of traffic? We plan on leaving HB around 9am

Not really. Both the 710 and the 605 will be busy at that time of day. And you'll hit the downtown interchanges around 9:45 either way. Once you pass that, the last few miles will be light traffic.

I agree. I am local and always use Waze to give me best routes. Under normal circumstances, though, the route I would normally take (because I'm used to it) is the 405N to the 110N to the 101N ... Google says that 405N to 605N to 5N to 101N is a little faster.
