Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

The cheese class sounds great. I never knew that Whole Foods had classes like this. Yum (except for the rotting fish/manure cheese)!

Come on... that wasn't a tasting... that was DINNER!!! Well, for some...

It was a hearty snack for us! :lmao:

Take Planky jogging... I hear carrying his weight alone will help you drop those pounds... although, he is prone to dragging jogging partners into any and all fast food joints within a 5 mile radius... :rolleyes1

I don't jog ... I hate running. And Planky would hate the humidity around here ... he's better off supervising my secondary DVD workouts. ;)

If you have a Whole Foods near you google them and they should have an on-line calendar for that location that will give you an idea of the classes they're offering during the next 30 days. The one that we've been going to (since it opened in June) is about 20 miles or so from our house and they offer wine tasting classes, cheese classes, cooking demos ... all kinds of good stuff!

Hey Brenda,
Totally off topic but I wanted to let you know that you inspired me to write my first TR! The link is in my signature.

I hope you are doing great and I'm looking forward to catching up on your cheese reviews. My husband and I were at New Seasons and we kept picking up cheese and putting it back saying, "What do we know?" and for $26 a lb we figured we couldn't afford to find out the hard way! So glad to get my cheese smarts from the big cheese herself :worship:

He's ok with the DVD's... but he gets first choice at Netflix...

Ah... you're gonna make her blush!!! (which is good... cause we :worship: Bendy!!!)

Wow, that really sounded like fun! We don't have a Whole Foods around here, or anywhere else that does cheese tastings that I know of. I guess that's part of living in a small town surrounded by other small towns.

I just did a search and the nearest Whole Foods to us is in either Greenville, SC or Winston-Salem. On the upside our friend's liquor store has really expanded it's wine section!

Bendy...

According to their website... I have to go 81.6 miles to my nearest Whole Foods...

Is it worth it??? :)

Bendy!!!

Remember I mentioned the seeing the fireworks for MNSSHP??? How you should see them from afar because they really are cool from like (my fave cause I'm never at the CR for dinner...) is the Poly beach...

Here's a You Tube I sent to my brother with the last minute or so... you can see the perimeter fireworks really well from there... The people in the parks don't get to see the whole effect - it really is cool... And since he saw the Pirate & Princess ones.. Planky can attest to the great lo-cal... just ask his furry little green butt... :thumbsup2 (well, the other end actually...)

Gotcha beat - only 217.89 miles to the nearest Whole Foods!!

Still lurking out here Brenda - and you are still the best!!

Wow... that's almost 3 times away...

Maybe we should just all go visit Bendy and Jay and go to THEIR Wholefoods...it's only 20 miles away... ;)

Sounds like a road trip!

My daughter just really enjoyed your video--"turn it up!" We have the CD of party music and it got her attention. I remember Hallowishes looking like it was all around us at the end.

I've only been inside the park for MVMCP, but I can remember having dinner at Citricos the following night and it looked like those suckers were going off right outside the window!!! Quite a site... That's why I recommend to everyone that they take the chance to see it from outside the parks... it's cool to see too!!! :goodvibes

I have been reading your TR and it's been most enjoyable - thanks for letting me know because I don't stray much from the cruise boards or the restaurant boards. It's where I'm comfy.

$26 for a pound of artisan cheese is probably about right, depending on the cheese. I think Humboldt Fog is running about $23 per pound here in Stinktown. Just for reference we typically buy cheese in 1/2 lb. increments, but that's for the two of us.

And thanks for the kind words.

It's true ... I blushed and then I smiled! :goodvibes

This explains why you bring an entire suitcase of cheese back from Oregon, doesn't it? ;)

And expanded wine selections are always a good thing! :thumbsup2

With gas prices being what they are my answer is no, no it's not. But someday if you happen to be traveling and you find yourself close to a Whole Foods then take a detour and spend some time wandering around it ... you might like it!

Hiya friends and food lovers! :goodvibes

Today I bit the bullet and gave the F&W Festival the virtual middle finger. I am tired of waiting for them to lift the veil of secrecy so that we can finalize our plans, so after much fuming and a little discussion with my lovey I made the following dining reservations:

October 8th: Dinner at Kona Cafe - a new experience that I fully expect to be enhanced by the consumption of the famed Lapu Lapu.

October 9th: Dinner at California Grill - an oldie but goodie ... bring on the foie gras...and cheese plate...and sushi...and polenta...and ... :rolleyes1

October 10th: Breakfast at Boma - another new experience thanks to many positive endorsements from my fellow DISers. I expect to have much fun with the word "frunch" during the meal.

October 11th: Dinner at Raglan Road ... another favorite venue and we have a $50 GC to burn through. Bring on the alcohol!!!

October 12th: Dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse ... mmmmm, a meaty, new restaurant for us to sink our dining chops into.

October 13th: Dinner at Victoria & Albert's ... cue celestial choir. :cloud9:

October 14th: Lunch at Rose & Crown ... another favorite that we haven't visited in a few years. Besides ... it's part of our top secret plan for the day. Stay tuned for exciting details!

October 15th: Dinner at Blue Zoo ... a new restaurant for us and we're meeting BriarRosie and TinkRules for dinner there as well! This should be a most interesting evening ... Todd English should be trembling in his personalized boots!

October 16th: Dinner at Citricos ... yet another new venue for the two Stinktown pigs that are Jay and me!

Other places we're going to try to fit in on top of the F&W booths at Epcot:

Earl of Sandwich, Yak and Yeti, The Fountain, Wolfgang Puck Express, and Chef Mickey's (breakfast).

At this time we're only thinking of booking two potential F&W events: a pairing in France and a pairing in Italy. Of course that could change once the program details are released, but right now we're not planning on many special events this year.

Let me know what you think and if you have any suggestions.

Thanks!

Bendy :goodvibes

Are you planning a visit to the F&W Fest this year? It's tons of fun, but pace yourself!! :goodvibes

we actually are going during then and have the ddp but im bringing extra cash for the "extras" might just have to plan to stay a couple more days just to try the food :cool1:

I can't wait!!! I'm going in September and your happy trip report from October will be just what I need in my withdrawal period.

Looks like you've got some really good meals picked out, Brenda! Did you already have some of your adr's made? I haven't really had much trouble getting what we wanted, and I didn't call until about 88ish days out. Just had to get creative with an extra guest for 1900 Park Fare ;) , *cough* you were going to join us there, just had to go home early, right? :rotfl: Why is it so hard to get a table for three for a character meal?

I'm so glad you've got so many meals planned, that means lots of great reviews!

It's nice to be able to use those snack credits to pay for food at the booths, but cash is a good backup plan in case you're extra hungry or the computers crash ... both of which have happened to us.

Hope you enjoy the festival!

Great reviews!

Thanks so much!

Ooooooh, September hey? Care to share your dining plans with the rest of us so that we can all drool together? :goodvibes

I did make some ADRs back in April at the 180-day mark and I left lots of holes that were supposed to be filled by F&W events. But I'm annoyed with WDW over the whole lack of information / Labor Day booking so I decided that we'd spend our time and dollars elsewhere. Not like I'm really making a statement since they still get our money, but this way they don't get nearly as much because we still have an active DDE card that will get us a 20% discount everywhere but Blue Zoo.

Funny you should mentioned 1900 Park Fare ... I was just looking at their menu this afternoon.

And I hope the reviews will be good and that there will be no pukage or illness of any kind on this trip. :thumbsup2

ohhhhhhhhhh......you have some good choices! can't wait. the tuna oscar at kona cafe was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! if you are in the mood for fish that night you have to try it. and of course the lapu lapu is what i call heaven in a pineapple!!! :cloud9:

oh, i almost forgot........had to share this with you since i know you love these things!
