Hungry Are The Damned! 10/15/07-10/25/07 - COMPLETED W/LOTS OF PICS!!!

Just checkin on ya to make sure your ok. Hope you are staying warm and off the ice.

Brenda is one of the most worthwhile interludes - - - her loyal fans are still out here and hoping all is well with her.

Let's see - - - what could be happening

She found her favorite wine - - by the case - for only $5.00 - and that was the end of every evening - -

She is making dozens and dozens of Christmas cookies - - - and leave the kitchen!!

She is back at WDW - and not letting us know!!

I know she cares about us and she will be back soon!!

Please Brenda!!

I think she may be in the area that got hit with the storms last week....

Hope they are ok by now... :goodvibes

Yes I believe she might be in that area with the ice storm. Brenda and Jay:thumbsup2 we're thinking of ya. :surfweb: I'm waiting very patiently too.

This just hasn't been my month ...

Long story short... is that even possible for me???

It all started with the familial invasions at Thanksgiving ... sucked the creativity right out of me and disrupted the nice little writing rut that I'd created. Then ... there were a rash of holiday parties on the weekends (primus writus timus interruptus)...a crappy little sleet storm during rush hour traffic one night that ended in a 3-hour commute and an emotional breakdown for your very sensitive author...followed by an ice storm ... followed by a snowstorm ... interrupted by a s***storm at work.

Somewhere in between all that I was convincing my husband that we just had to take a cruise for my 40th birthday in 2009, trying to convince my fingers to work properly (cold weather really suks when your joints get cranky), working on performance reviews, forgetting to do any Christmas shopping, and not decorating the house for the holidays.

Wah...wah...wah... to quote my dear friend Nancy "somebody call the wahmbulance' we've got a whiner!" :lmao:

So, what I guess I'm trying to say is that I haven't been intentionally neglecting this thread or anyone here - I just haven't had the time or energy to post anything that I believe is worth posting, and I'd rather produce quality as opposed to quantity (now that's gotta win the ironic statement of the year award ... :rotfl2: ).

Many thanks to all of you for following up with us - we are doing fine and survived Mother Nature's temper tanturm relatively unscathed. I hope that everyone who stops in to read here is also doing well - you have my warmest wishes for a lovely holiday season and a healthy, joyous new year. :grouphug:

By the end of next week I should be back into a more "normal" work schedule and I will finally have a 4-day weekend. I can't promise an update but I will do my best to try to make it happen.

I must share one recipe with everyone - it's our favorite holiday drink which we first tried in New Orleans a few years ago while having breakfast at Brennans.

Brandy Milk Punch

1 1/2 cups of milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
12 ounces of brandy*
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup very cold water
1 tablespoon vanilla

*some recipes call for bourbon but we think that's too strong for this drink*

Combine the milk, cream, brandy, sugar, water, and vanilla in a large pitcher. Stir well. Serve beverage in short tumblers (whiskey glasses) over ice; sprinkle each drink with nutmeg.

Drink...go on, bottoms up. Now go back for some more. Feel that funny tingling sensation along your forehead and cheekbones? That's called getting a buzz - isn't it fun? Try drinking your milk punch on Christmas morning- if you're anything like Jay and me, you'll be tipsy by the time the family shows up at noon! :thumbsup2

Cheers!!

PS. The DIS has been awfully slow lately, hasn't it? Anyone else having problems or is it just me and my bad computer karma? :confused3

Glad to know you are O.K.:goodvibes
The weather hasn't been nice here either. Snow, then rain, then sleet, then ice, then snow then......well you get the picture. It's never a good sign when people are sick of the winter and it technically hasn't even started yet.:scared1:

Totally off topic... but for those of you who like to read (and I'm guessing most of you do or you wouldn't be trudging through my stuff ... ;) )

I've been on a bit of a reading binge lately and thought I'd pass along some of the books I've read in the last two months in case anyone is looking for a good book.

In no particular order:

Atonement
Water for Elephants
The Thirteenth Tale
Interred With Their Bones
I Am Legend
Love in the Time of Cholera

Glad to know you are O.K.:goodvibes

I totally get it - people here have already started complaining about the winter weather and the last time I checked winter officially begins on Saturday.

Blech! Someone needs to take us all away to WDW ... permanently. I'd like to take a small apartment in France ... :cloud9:

First of all, glad you and Jay are great. Second, yes I have noticed that usually during the morning and afternoon it's slow so it's not you.

Glad to know you are O.K.:goodvibes

Ain't that the truth. It starts Saturday and I hate it already.

Oooo pick me, I want to come. I have a somewhat larger apartment (I have three kids) anywhere on Main Street. Love those buildings. I so will wait for your next installment any amount of time. I think you're a hoot. and I would take quality over quanity anytime. I also want to wish you and Jay a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year too. :santa:

Glad you're ok Brenda! :goodvibes

My son just asked me when we're going back to WDW.
I had to say "I don't know...why?"
And he said "Because I miss Disney World."

Sniff.

BUT...it is Christmas, and that should help a little, no???

:santa:

Merry Christmas!

And I'd like a room at the Poly! That would be most awesome. :cloud9:

I'm so glad that you're doing fine. It's been pretty icy here in CT. Luckily the semester is over, and I don't have to drive to New Haven (aka the city that badly plows the streets) for class.

Merry Christmas! :santa:

I here ya with the family situation! I keep saying "I love my inlaws" in the hopes that one day it may come true. Kinda like Dorothy but with better clothes.
forgetting to do any Christmas shopping, and not decorating the house for the holidays.
Don't feel bad. I usually decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving but just got around to it last weekend. And thank the gods for the internet. If not I wouldn't have Christmas presents to give!

This is the only way I survive the holidays!! I prefer Prosseco and Pama with a twist of lime! :cloud9: I could use one right now!!

I always have a "Merry" Christmas!
(my friend Joan from England always says Happy Christmas because to say someone is merry is to say they are a loon or are drunk!):santa:

Glad to hear from you again, I think we can all empathize :goodvibes

If you book another cruise, you HAVE to tell me which one it is, because I will totally book it too. I have a Visa card and I'm not afraid to use it. :rotfl:

Here's hoping things slow down for you soon.

I actually bought The Thirteenth Tale but haven't started reading it yet.
You better be careful, or you'll start your own book club on here. ;)

Since we're all moving to Disney :goodvibes I think I will claim an apartment in the castle before anyone else does. I just don't understand why I wasn't born royalty.:confused3 :lmao:

Ok Ladies....

Think this one out... this is not Carnival... you cannot drink each other under the table every night and still come out alive!!! (or for that matter keep from going overboard...)

So since you need a designated driver... I'll go (I'll just quit my job... maybe they'll understand...)

I still think your respective hubbys look a little too much alike and I'm sure that Rob is their other brother...(Cass may agree...)

Start the pre trippies now????
