Hi all,
So last summer was my first trip to US&IOA. Took pretty much the whole week for DH to convince me to go on the Hulk with him. This was my first roller coster ever. It scared me to death but I loved it!! We are going back to Orlando this winter, I *think* I want to ride dueling dragons but just thinking about it makes me nervous!! Is it more scary or about the same?? I am sure I would love it if I could get enough courage to actually get on! Convince me it's worth a try!!!!!! I am so excited to go back!
Thanks!
-Kat

I rode both for the first time on our trip in 2004, and loved them both! If you can do the Hulk, you can definitely do Dueling Dragons! Different experiences, but both are a lot of fun!!

Hulk is "scary" because of the shooting out speed. Once you are over that, its not scary. Dueling Dragons I would say is less scary. The ride is incredibly smooth. The scariest part to me is the ride up the hill (that clickety clackety sound gets me). The 2 sides (fire and ice) go at the same time, so sometimes you have to wait on the hill for a bit for the other side to catch up. That gets me a bit. So its basically all mental, the ride itself isnt scary. You will love it.

Make sure you sit in the front row of both coasters. I like front row of Dragons the best when the 2 coasters are coming at each other.

We just rode all 3 last week! :yay: I don't think DD is scarier than Hulk....I DO, however, think DD is faster than Hulk. I prefer the "Fire" coaster to the "Ice" as I think Ice is rougher...but, I love the "wall" on Ice! If you can do Hulk, you would have NO problem doing DD....especially since it's an inverted coaster (track above you)....if you're NOT in the front seat (which we did ride both in the front--awesome! ) it's not too bad for your first time, because you mostly see the seat in front of you! Try DD NOT in the front seat first...but, you can do it...especially if you've already done Hulk!!! (I like Hulk better tho.... :thumbsup2 )

I did both on my first trip , and I loved them !

I think the Hulk is scary because of the speed but DD is scary because you're feet are suspended and if your at the front , it seems as if your going to crash into the other coaster !

They are both great fun and none is scarier than the other ! If your REALLY petrified , dont go on the front but I'm sure, although I've never been to the front (because of the queues) it would be a great experience that I hope to have next time !

Dont miss this ride out and after much persuasion I'm sure you'll see the fun side of it and look past the scary side !!

Dont worry because if you've done The Hulk , DD will seem like a breeze . its extremely smooth !!

Have Fun !!!!!! :thumbsup2

I don't get scared on coasters, until my first ride on DD - I was terrified.

When I went back on my second trip two years later, I realized my problem - **don't look down** as you're being towed up to the top. Just look straight ahead. I guess I'm afraid of heights.

Now I really enjoy DD. I've never ridden in the front row, but I can see how that would make a big difference.

Hulk was fun as well - there's no *time* to look down, everything happens so fast in those first thirty seconds.

OP sounds like myself - except Kat is one step ahead - I haven't had the guts to try either yet - but will in a month or so - how do these two compare with Kraken at SW, which DH says is the best ever.

We really enjoyed Kraken, but my family's consensus is Hulk as the best of all 3.
The "kids" (17 and early 20s) say they like DD and Kraken about the same. The initial thrust on Hulk is the best ever.

personally i would say hulk is worst than DD, if u can do hulk with the fast take off, u can do DD

For a long time Hulk's coaster was the #6 in the world for the "G" forces. I saw this in Discovery Travel.I don't know in wich place is now.

I did DD and I'll be in the minority and say I didn't really like it. My husband went first and came off looking odd and not saying much.
I thought "wimp" and went on. The ride itself is smooth but I felt like my brain was sloshing around or something!! I got off feeling funny (can't describe it more than that). Not trying to discourage anyone from at least trying it but I thought I would share my experience.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

i love dd - but i do get more dizzy on that one than on hulk. Not sure why though. But this happens to my whole family.

HOWEVER - this has not stopped me one bit. One time, my baby brother and I rode it constantly until it closed. There was no one there, so we would get off and get right back on! I have to say that after the second ride, we were so dizzy we could hardly find the entrance to the re-ride line. LOL!

Anyway - if you did hulk you can do DD! WE LOVE ICE b/c of the wall! AHHHHHHH!

Just wanted to add that my mother is scared of heights (to death) and she has done both hulk and DD. She won't due DDFF, but she will do hulk and dd.

What's with the wall? I don't remember!

on ICE you are speeding along and all of a sudden, a wall comes out of nowhere and you look like you're going to hit it...but you loop up and away from it....it's awesome! :thumbsup2

Wow; sounds great! Don't remember that at all~~guess I was too busy looking at the back of the seat in front of me!

Honestly, i missed the wall the first couple of times too! Then once we rode in the front and there is no way you are missing it then. Your brain is telling you that there is absolutely no way that you are going to hit this thing - but all your body hears is - REACT DUMMY - WE"RE GONNA HIT A FRIGGIN WALL! I cringe and pull in my feet everytime.

I never saw if before then, but now i see it all the time. My brothers did not see it before then either! I guess our eyes were either closed at that exact moment or we were just concentrating on the seat in front of us too!

Either way - once you see it, it is awesome! You must be on the look out for it next time.

How does Hulk compare to RnR at MGM? DBf tried to convince me to do Hulk with him but I'm tooooo scared. I did RnR with no problems and loved it.

I think they're pretty compatible.....now, I just rode Hulk and RnR was last year, so my memory is a little fuzzy w/ RnR....but, the take-off is almost the same, RnR is inside, while Hulk is outside....Hulk has loops and rolls...you can see what it has.....I say if you can do RnR, you can do Hulk!...(even if you close your eyes the first time) :thumbsup2
