Hulk closing soon

We'll be there last week in August, so sounds like we might miss it too.

Years ago, this was one of my favorite rides. More recently I've found that it rattles my head around quite a bit when I ride. I don't know if I'm just getting old, or if it's wear and tear on the cars making the ride a bit more rough. Looking forward to trying it after the referb to see if it smooths things out at all.

That's what we've felt last couple of years......really rattles the old brain.......DS felt it too so we decided it wasn't just old age......lol........

Front row was smoother but any further back......wow........

Hope it is much smoother after the refurb.

Yes, it's gotten worse over the years. It used to be smoother.

Two weeks today and we will be there - do you know if they have the dates set for the closure or are they still waiting for permits? I am really hoping it is still open although I agree with the brain shaker aspect of the ride!

My daughter will be sad if she can't ride it on our trip in November! Me, on the other hand.... not so sad! That just means I don't have to ride it with her! :P I got a headache just watching the POV on youtube! :crazy2: We have never ridden it so really we don't know what we are missing. I feel like that makes it a little easier. It sounds like it needs the refurb. Does that mean the line for RRR is going to be even longer? :scared:

This just made me remember. While we were waiting in line for Hulk last week, there were two 'gama spills' within about three cars for each other. Really slowed things down. We got to see the crew do the clean up from where we were standing.

The stupid Hulk is what turned me off to roller coasters forever. Experienced it during IOA's soft openings in mid-may 1999 and haven't set foot on a roller coaster with inversions since.

That's all I really have to add to this conversation. LOL.

I was just thinking about this. We're planning a visit in October - my daughter just got tall enough for the Hulk, and I was disappointed to hear about potential downtime. So I poked around the usual other theme park sites for more info, but have found nothing (aside from the permits being filed). I guess I'm hoping this can be done with minimal disruption - and doesn't mean the start to that whole "re-theming/losing Marvel etc. etc." that so many rumours point to.

Having said that, I wonder if - if they are replacing the restraints - they'll be going with the flexible, padded harnesses that have become increasing popular as an alternative to those hard horsecollars. I've been on two coasters so far with them - Tempesto at Busch Gardens, and Maverick at Cedar Point (whose trains were retro-fitted with them). They're great - comfy, and they eliminate head-banging - but they do slow down the loading process.

As far as roughness goes - most of the time that's a wheel/chassis issue. New trains will certainly address that.

The Hulk coaster is one of the noteable icons at IOA for us. My wife and I don't ride it, but we love to watch and listen to it.

We can't pass by it without stopping and watching it for a few minutes. I love the roar when it goes by. It would be disappointing to not have that. I'm assuming it will be up and running by December when we get there.

What are they changing about it?

What are they changing about it?

Best guesses are the queue design as a first phase, then some track sections may get fixed/changed out and other changes, possibly to make it smoother.

The re-theming may bring it into MCU Hulk (the movie version)

EP used to go up the back with single rider. People complained that you could not choose front row so they made the change to the merge with regular.

I have a feeling the lines will be all changed and rebuilt.

The current EP line would be ok if the TM stopped the regular line all the time and not selective.

Hopefully they do away with the "Front Row" line queue. It's fascinating how long waits are for front row when there's a posted option for it. On other rides like RRR, you just ask and there's rarely any additional wait.

I thought RRR had a dedicated first row line as well?

Nope, you just ask when you get to the front, and they'll put you there. There is a single-rider queue.

If there were a dedicated first row queue, I bet it would be backed up all the way down the stairs.

RRR will never get a front row due to loading capacities. Asking for front row we do all the time and there has been plenty of times told not right now due to being busy.

The hulk will always offer front row just like DC. They just need to make changes to express terms that it's not valid for front row. If you want front row then get up early or wait inline, plane and simple.
