Hula has a very nice host room, Hula's Pumpkin Patch, where everyone gets a prize. But today Hula left and chaos broke out in her second room. She had someone working for her in the second room that was rude at times. She had five other people running around in the room claiming they were working for her and one was extremely rude, and they were blocking the way for the players trying to get to the teleporter. People trading in there. All in all utter chaos, since she was no where to be found. (I do not know the reason she was missing, just that she was missing) The last hour of the room was extremely bad, waiting in queque to get into the second room, only to find utter chaos. Finally, in the last few minutes of the host room, VMK_Red showed up and cleared out the room. You should have seen the people exist then)
Hula where were you, what happened to you? Were you dc'd for that long?

Can hosts not watch their own rooms, instead of having helpers that can do nothing but talk (they can't boot)? (with some of the rude helpers they should not be allowed to boot) Helpers should be VMK staff memebers not other players. And if you have more than one room maybe use a teleporter to go from room to room to watch over these problems.

As I said this is a very nice room but the second room was a major disaster today!!!

Hosts should never have a helper who is not employed by Disney

Delicious, do you think your tone is a little condescending and rude towards Hula? If the room was not orderly or as you feel it should have been, cool. However, I think to publicly criticize a host in the boards in inappropriate.

They are paid employees who are doing a job. We do not know the circumstances of why she was not there, but I think that it is bit "off" to be questioning Hula as to where she was and can she handle her rooms. I just don't believe that we as players should be questioning a paid employee of a game we play for free.

Would you ask the lady at the restaurant you eat at, "Why have you lost control of your lobby? Where are you? Why aren't you managing your restaurant differently? Here, let me tell you how to do your job."? I would not, but maybe that's just me.

Sometimes the hosts have connection issues or other challenges and ask players to assist with their rooms while they re-connect or whatnot. Maybe a public attack of how someone is performing their job isn't necessary. Just my view of the world. Thought I'd share.

I want to clear things up here.
First do not blame Hula for todays event. She had to step away to help some friends that were in danger of losing their house due to fire. Hula did not have to open her room. She could have just as easily had staff send a VMK message to all of us that the event was cancelled. She opened the room and aranged to have someone come and close it.

Now as for that second room I had seen and agree that things were not picture perfect. Yes some of the players were breaking rules trading in there and being very rude. This was just plain rude of them to disrespect a host room like that. We all know if Hula could have been there things would not have been that way. A couple off bad apples should not ruin it for the rest of us though.

I for one want to thank Hula for being nice enough to let us get a bat bag. I also want to thank everyone who helped out by moving though the lines very quickly. All in all I think for the most part her room was a success. I saw lots of players flying through the rooms and being very nice to each other. Many of you got to go in the room more than a few times.

And Hula if your reading this my prayers go out to your friends. I hope everything works out ok for them. They sure are lucky to have someone like you to help them out.

...She had to step away to help some friends that were in danger of losing their house due to fire...

Like I said ^ there, we have no idea what the reasons were and Hula does not report to us. Turns out, based on ForeverWDW's information, Hula had somewhere much more important to be than running a free virtual game's game room. Now, whether VMK management should have had someone else cover, close the room, or make another choice is a different issue. However, that is NOT a reflection of Hula

Hope everyone is okay Hula! I'm sure they were happy you were available to help.

The problem is not Hula. The problem is the players who just could not get their prize and leave. I am pretty certain that none of the "helpers" were asked by Hula to help. I remember last Xmas players were blocking up the prize room causing a major line. There were about 10 people claiming to he "helpers". When I put my nephew's character through, I told Hula about the big build up. She immediately went in the room to take care of things. Hula is great at keeping things running in the prize rooms. I think it was pretty kind of her to leave the host event open even though she had an emergency. :thumbsup2

I would never blame a host. As someone said, Hula had to leave to help a friend, but it could just as well have been a lost internet connection and other things!

I do personally think that the helpers in the room get out of hand. Phinny says she never lets anyone not a staff help in her rooms and all the other hosts should do the same! It just gets out of hand with people asking and feelings getting hurt because there can only be one helper, or two if there are more rooms. If they allow someone to help, it should be a CL, IMO! I know there are some DISers that help occassionally, and you guys are doing an awesome job. Unfortunately, not all do, and let it get to their head and are rude and disrespectful!

So... is it ok to criticise a McDonald's employee who does not deliver your burger properly, but not a VMK employee simply because they are a host? Hula works in a service industry and she provides a service. Whatever her reasons were, it is still perfectly ok to call someone out when they do not properly do their job. If my house burns down and I do a poor job at work the next day, my boss csetainly would not care why, only that I did a poor job. If she had somewhere more imporatant to be, she should have called out of work like the rest of us do.

:thumbsup2 I could not agree more!! Agree 120%!! :thumbsup2

Um, yes that's all I'm going to say on that ... :rolleyes1

Oh my Hula I hope your friends are ok. And not I do not agree with a lot of posters critizing you.

How do we know that she did not try to call in a person. Maybe this person could not get there in time for her to leave. We are dealing with a virtual game. It is sad how we hear about the fires in california and the loss of houses and maybe lives it will take.

Who knows if it was really family, maybe it was her house, maybe a relative. Maybe a person who is disabled that called in a panic because the weather changed and now they have to evacuate. May times in a emergency if the only person is in a store they close it. Why because life is to be more valued the the mighty dollar.

We all love Hula because she is so caring well she is just not that way in the game I am sure.

Let's see a bat bag and craziness because players have bad manners are rude and inconsiderate to a caring person trying to save a persons life and some memories just in case.

I for one would chose I person willing to drop everthing to help a friend. That is a friend I would cherish.!!!!

I personally don't see how this is Host Hula's problem. I cant say for sure that the explaination is true, but for the sake of discussion lets say she did leave the game completely. From that point on it's up to the remaining employees in the game to either, keep that room up and running, get it under control, or shut it down. If a room gets out of control, vmk needs to respond in a timely manner. It sounds like VMK_Red responded, and if it was in a timely manner, than not sure what the big deal is. If it was chaos for a period of time, then there is a legitimate gripe.

I try to always give the benefit of the doubt when it's obvious the intent was genuine. If Hula opened the room before leaving just so the peeps in the game could get their prize then I just can't criticize her if it didnt go according to plan.

If its true that the fire is impacting her then God bless her for even taking a moment to consider us in her thought process. Hula thinks of all of us as individuals and not just part of her job.

Whatever the reason for her disappearance I hope everything is ok for her.

Lastly, I am not sure what I think about the 2 room teleporter thing. That is something that I am sure VMK and the hosts would like to see some feedback on. I personally usually go to a host event when it opens, so I dont see the sort of problems that have been described in this thread.

Something needs to be said about players who are behaving inappropriately...not about whether Hula was there to monitor her second room! Maybe if other players reported them for inappropriate behavior, the matter could have been addressed in a timely manner.

As others have mentioned, she does have problems at times with her connection & I witnessed that first hand during the dreams event. She came back to my room twice (because of the connection) while giving out tons of ears.

Going back to the post about helping her friends out...hopefully all is well with everyone & they are all safe!

Hula was at the Host event, I saw her there. I also was able to go through the host room with just a wait of 2 people, for the second room ,with 20 minutes to go until the end of the event.

Bless Hula for helping out other people!

There are more important events in life then accumalting free bat bags!

No game is perfect, there will always be a rude player or events that are less then perfect!

There is a contact us at the bottom of the VMK page, that would be more appropriate to use if concerned about the safety and what was going on in a room, whether a Host room or not.

:cheer2: Host Hula! Your the Best!
