So we are heading down in a couple weeks to celebrate my DW parents 50th. I book 19 people at the BWV with my points. Last night I received a call from my FIL that he wants to pay for our park hoppers and our airline tickets. I really don't want to accept it, but should I?

Why not? He recognized that you used your points so many could join in the celebration and I think he's just trying to repay a nice gesture. Go ahead I'm sure it will make him happy.

My MIL/FIL have paid for parts of our vacation on several vacations. They want their family to be together and enjoy the time and want to help us out in that way. Go ahead and accept and thank them for their generosity. Everyone will be happy!

It's called pay it forward....

See what happens!!!

Go for it!

Have a great time....:cool1:

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

As parents who do this for our adult children who are just starting out, I totally agree with this. I like to be thanked, but all I ever really want is for all of us to be together and make memories.

Yes.

What reason would you have not to accept? You've extended a wonderful gift to your extended family and offering to pay for your tickets etc. is a great way to express gratitude! Just as I'm sure it gives you pleasure to be able to give your family these accomodations, your In-Laws are reciprocating and probably very happy to be able to do so.

Have a wonderful time!!!

The Grand Floridian Bakery makes WONDERFUL cakes for such occasions! We did a similar thing for my parents' 60th (on a MUCH smaller scale)...and I was glad we did.

Always cherish those family get togethers...as you'll never know how much longer you can all get together.

I wish! We are taking my parents down so they can spend time with DD, who they only see a few times a year. I've used my points to book a 2 BR @ BLT. Instead of being thankful, my Dad is complaining that he has to pay for airline tickets and park tickets. I've already agreed to pay for their DDP, which we would not be getting if they were not coming.

What is most annoying, is that they give $ to my siblings all the time. All my siblings still live by my parents, and will actually ask my parents for $. However since we never ask them for anything, they assume we can easily afford it.

Absolutely. They're retired, and likely fighting that "are we still relevant" feeling. Unless it would put them in a financial hardship, I think it would be a disservice to not accept with a lot of display of appreciation.

My parents' 60th was in early August. This went over well, so passing it along.
Use a little of that money you just "found" to buy lots of magical moments. Take LOTS of pictures with them and their children and grand children. Some spontaneous, and some shamelessly staged.

When you return, you can go online to sites that let you build a coffee table photo album in about an hour. I used shutterfly and was happy with the result. It was about $100. I knew they'd like it, but had no idea how moved they'd be.
We're so digital, we forget how they prefer precious memories, I guess.
