Huge Strollers

Does anyone else think that people should consider bringing smaller strollers? I have a 9, 7 and 9 month old, so I am not against kids, just against these huge strollers that take up so much room, also the double strollers. These are just toooo big. I have 3 kids, so understand the need for convenience, but come on. If everyone has these huge strollers, then of course there is not alot of room to walk around. I have a big stroller for home for walking, etc, but when we go to public places like this, I think it is only respectful to take a smaller one (which still has a small under carraige). Am I the only one who thinks this???

I'll be bringing my double on our next trip that is 29 inches wide...so less than taking two singles. I think most folks just bring what they have. I do try to be very careful when pushing our stroller though. I don't like getting run over either.

We took the stroller we owned on our last trip. We could barely afford the trip, let alone a new stroller. And our youngest two are only 14 months apart, so we needed the double. We will have a slightly bigger budget this time, so we will be renting a stroller. It will be a double. I think most people generally don't want to bring a huge stroller, because it is a pain. So if they have one, they probably don't have another choice.

That is a very small double. Very handy But you know what I mean by those huge ones, not everyone is rude, but some are. I didn't mean to insinuate that everyone is, but some are. Sorry to paint such a broad stroke.

An umbrella stroller is $12 at Walmart and small bigger one with the under carraige are about $40. Not really an issue for a huge trip when you consider other's comfort. Like I said, my kids are 9 & 7 and when they were small, only 15 months apart, so I get it. I just think people need to think about other's as well as themselves.

We knew our double stroller last year was too big (sit to stand with the removable seat so it's very long) so we invested in an umbrella stroller for our daughter (3.5) - son (1.5) was then kept in the single stroller we had from the travel system with our 1st. (we really researched a reasonable price and I ended up buying a $50 one from Babies R Us but used a $20 g/c I got from a promotion with buying extra diapers at one time plus a 20% off coupon). Of course we still use that stroller for the convenience and I have since stopped using the double

Even before I had kids I never cared about large strollers at DL (or anywhere else for that matter).

Now we have one child and we have a larger Graco stroller (I think its large, but its not a double stroller) and I try to be very careful about running into people with it. If I do happen to bump someone with it or clip their heels or something then I say Im sorry but otherwise I can care less what other people think. Im not insensitive if I accidentally bump them but if Im not running into them (which doesn't happen very often with me) then IMO its none of their business that I have a stroller or not. If people don't like me bringing a stroller then that's their problem, not mine.

I saw some of those very wide double strollers at DL on our last visit on 2011 and I thought I wouldn't want one of those myself but I never thought those people shouldn't have brought it either. If it works for you then use it, and forget what other people think. As long as you have manners and are not trying to run people over then its none of their business.

We're bringing our larger of the two strollers we own (though it's a City Mini-- I don't think that qualifies as huge) because it reclines all the way, so hopefully our baby will nap.

There is no way my 6' husband could push around an umbrella stroller all day. And my 3 year old certainly couldn't walk the whole time. Plus my older kids hopped on the seat part at night too. I don't think the extra couple of feet my stroller took up in the park really made a difference to anyone. Sorry, I just don't agree. I don't really care what stroller other people use.

I plan on renting the City Mini double. I consider it small. Our last one was a beast. I picked the City Mini so my kids could sleep in it too.

That's another good point. When I was shoppping for strollers, I read that the average umbrella stroller is designed for a 5'4" woman to push. I'm 5'9", and my husband is 6'3", so I did a lot of research into which strollers are good for tall people before we bought ours.

We have a joovy ultralight - it's the same size as a regular stroller but has a little seat in the back for a second child. It only weighs 20 pounds and I really like it. That having been said - Does a stroller take up more space than a large person, maybe an adult, would take up while walking down the street? I mean, it works both ways here - I know some people complain about getting rammed by strollers when they are walking, but I have to say, in the midst of the throng of people exiting from the fireworks or fantasmic, I have been pushed from behind and have had pedestrians stop dead in their tracks right in front of my stoller. Believe me, I am extremely careful - my baby's legs are there, and if I hit someone, I run the risk of that person falling on my child. I would never carelessly bump someone, or try to push them out of the way with my stroller, especially since it puts my own child at risk, and I don't know anyone else who would either. I know the OP wasn't specifically commenting on that scenario, but I've seen it on here before, and I just wanted to make a statement that courtesy all around - between those with stollers and those without - should really be everyone's goal. Also, umbrella stollers are really really REALLY bad on children's backs - okay for an hour or two, but in my opinion, I wouldn't want to sit my infant or toddler in one for a few extended days at Disneyland. JMO.

I really don't get the disdain by some people on here with double strollers. We take our bob double jogging stroller with us to the park for several reasons. One is that the seats recline down pretty far back for the younger two to sleep in at night, the sun shade comes down really far during the bright afternoons, it is soooo easy to push and has a nice sized basket on the bottom for me to put stuff in. I'm not taking two strollers to the park by myself when I have my 5 kids there and I'm the only adult (unless you really want my 11 year to push it and ram into your ankles because he is too distracted by everything to be paying close enough attention).

This is a tough one. If you look at the ones they rent... most aren't any bigger than that. I personally dont care as long as the person isn't using it to barge through crowds with. Using it as a bumber car to push their way through a crowd. On the other hand, I have a stroller, and really hate when the person in front of me stops suddenly in the middle of a sidewalk to take a picture, then gets all ticked because I bumped into them with my stroller. I think it all comes down to people just need to be aware of others. The size of the stroller doesn't really matter to me. I could never really see why people have these huge jogging stollers at a park, but I guess if thats all you have.... you have no choice.

We took our double jogging stroller when our kids were younger. They were close in age, so we needed it. It had the storage bag underneath for our bags, and cup holders for the sippy cups, and a canvas top to shade them. It was one my husband could push around too without having to bend over all day long. Now that our kids are older we don't need a stroller or any diaper bags. Just a small Disney backpack.

Honestly does it matter about the stroller? When my boys were little, I took the stroller we had and honestly never thought a thing about it. You are at Disneyland... have fun and let the kids be comforable. Personally, I would much rather see a "large" stroller with the kid/kids in it that have to dodge toddlers running around or "big" kids running down Main Street to be the first on the rides or to grab that wonderful "fastpass" for the family..
Kick back, take what you have and remember.. it is Disneyland, the happiest place on earth.. enjoy!

I definitely don't think it's inconsiderate to bring a large stroller. I've never felt like it was a big problem. We have a Maclaren now, and I love how easy it is to get around. But when my 2 oldest were little I had a big Graco double that I couldn't have done without at Disney. Now I can't tell you how many times me or my child has almost been run over by someone on an ECV! There are a lot of inconsiderate "drivers" on those things. (To clarify- I don't think being on an ECV is inconsiderate, only driving it like you're in the Indy 500)

We brought our jogger because it reclines and was the only way for our 7 month old to nap in the park. So I guess my question is, what's more annoying? A big stroller with a sleeping baby or a very over tired baby who is screaming?

I've been taking my kids to Disneyland since they were 3 & 5. We have never used a stroller. I honestly don't see how they are even helpfull. If you tour in an orderly fashion, you are going ride to ride (or attraction to attraction) what purpose does the stroller have?

I agree with the OP. I think that on some days when it's super busy at the park and people get jammed together it's rough when there are also big strollers involved.

But there are also dummies out there who are also walking along with their entourage of 5 people straight across who won't have the decency to step aside, or those who decide to have a conversation with their entire family in the middle of a busy walkway (like by Indy).
