Excuse me if anyone else has posted about this already.
I work for the National Association of Home Builders who will be putting on the International Builders' Show in Orlando next week. Staff members will begin flying into town this Saturday and the show begins on Thursday the 13th. Last year's show in Las Vegas had 104,000 attendees and we will have 90,000 to 100,000 this year. Expect tons of traffic all week, with the worst being from Thursday to Sunday.
In addition, there will be a "Builders Night Out" at the Magic Kingdom on Thursday the 13th from 4 p.m. till close, a private luncheon at Epcot's World Showcase Pavilion on Friday the 14th at noon, and a huge party at Universal's City Walk on Friday the 14th starting at 7 p.m.
If you'll be in the World next week and need to drive around town be prepared for major traffic congestion. From Thursday until Sunday a portion of International Drive will be closed to accommodate IBS shuttle bus service. In one bit of good news, the contracts Orlando hotels have with certain cab companies for exclusive service are all waived during the four days of the show, so any cab can pull up to any hotel in town from Thursday to Sunday.
