Hubby & Prego do Disney in August! - Final Thoughts (5/25)

Hey y'all! There's some Texas twang for ya! It's been a super busy week! I swear, I'd love to start school one year with a little less inservice stuff. Plus J and I went to the doc today. Silly me thought it was the ultrasound to find out the sex, but that's with a different doctor (geez! don't I feel dumb!). So we should find out a week from Monday! Can't wait!!!
On to the trip report! Monday morning, we got up, actually I got up around 6:10 with a wake-up call from Stitch and Mickey! That's one way to get someone outta bed! Poor J was sooooo tired! It took him forever to get up! Kind of reminded me of a Disney cartoon with Mickey, Donald, & Goofy on a road trip. Donald just can't get up and sits on the end of the bed and rubs his eyes. Maybe also that Donald is J's favorite character...
We ordered a few grocery items from Garden Grocer and were able to have breakfast on our (big!) balcony! Granted it was just cereal but how could you not LOVE waking up to this!?!
IMG_1570.jpg

We finally made it out the door around 7:20, which was a little later than I had planned. Hollywood Studios (sidenote, this is still a little hard for me to say since the few times I went as a kid it was always MGM, old habits die hard, hehe!) had Extra Magic Hours that morning and I knew it would be packed! We decided to walk since it was only about a mile. Although we did have to stop on the Boardwalk for a cup of coffee. Poor J just did not have the natural (Disney!) energy that I did!

We got to DHS around 7:50 and the crowds were not necessarily small...
IMG_1572.jpg

What made things a little more difficult was that it was already hot before 8:00am! J is not one for the heat, even though we live in the south! :lmao:
"Who's getting frustrated?"
IMG_1573.jpg

I think his dream is to move up north someday. Whether that be the northeast or the northwest doesn't matter! HA!
Anyway, the gates opened and we headed straight to Toy Story Mania! Thanks to these wonderful Boards, I told J we needed to ride first and, if we liked it get a FastPass! So we did! The standby line was maybe 10 minutes!!
I really enjoyed walking around in here. Not only was it nice and cool it brought back so many childhood memories!
IMG_1575.jpg

IMG_1574.jpg

IMG_1576.jpg

And we LOVED it!! Being a boy, J kicked my rear at this game!!
IMG_1577.jpg

That's ok, that's ok! We'll get a FP and have a rematch!
By this time there was still a little wait at the FP line, but no biggie. The standby line was already to an hour! :scared1:
The area around TSM is soooo cool! How fun would it be to a designer for this kind of stuff!
IMG_1578.jpg

Afterwards we walked over to Sunset Blvd to check out Rockin' Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror.
IMG_1617.jpg

These were two rides I knew I wouldn't be able to ride. :sad1: I rode ToT last time I went and remember loving it! But RnRC was new. So J and I waited in line for RnRC and, again, I took the chicken exit. J LOVED this ride. In fact, he wouldn't shut up about it! After about 10 minutes of him going on and on and on about it I gave him a little pouty face to which he assured me we would come back when I wasn't in the prego condition....someday! Great. Does that mean someday SOON!?!
We then walked over to ToT and J wasn't sure if he was feeling it. Growing up, J apparently was a bit of a chicken. He told me he would have never riden these kind of rides. I guess his stomach/nerves have changes as he matured! Since he was reluctant about ToT we decided to head over towards Star Tours!
IMG_1585.jpg

IMG_1586.jpg

I had heard this ride was not recommended for pregos, but just to be certain I asked the lady up front and she said no. Dang!! Oh well, I still wanted J to go on it. We pretty much walked through with no wait. Lots of cool things inside. I didn't have a chance to take any pics cause we just walked straight through.
So I stood in line and took the chicken exit...again! Guess this is gonna be my theme for the trip, eh?
To my surprise, J was not really impressed with Star Tours. I remember loving this as a kid! He did point out that compared to his last ride (RnRC) this one was just small potatoes. He also had a not-so-great seat on the far side. Oh well, maybe we'll try it again on our next trip!
The Muppets 3-D was close so we walked on over to watch it. There were literally no people in the audience so we could sit wherever we wanted. In the middle section we go! It was really cute, a little dated, but I still loved it! Come on! It's the Muppets! I grew up watching and loving them!!
We walked around that area for a little bit and I found the umbrella!!
IMG_1591.jpg

I almost forgot how to make it rain, but some nice gentleman said to step on the mat! Duh!
We then headed back towards Sunset Blvd since we could FPs for another ride (it had been two hours since we got out FP for TSM although we coudn't yet ride it, confusing I know). We got one FP for RnRC and one for ToT. I told J even if he didn't want to ride it at least he would have the chance.
Up next! Our yummy lunch at Sci-Fi, Toy Story - Round 2!, and J's ultimate decision regarding the Tower of Terror!!

Love the update! Your balcony looks so peaceful!:cloud9:

I am so jealous you got to ride Toy Story! Unfortunately, I did not read about getting there first and the wait was 2 hours long! I did, however, ride ToT!! I have a funny story about it too..will post about it soon. I am so anxious to see if J rides it!!!

Cute umbrella trick too! Sorry you had to miss out on rides...I am sure you can ride many times to come:love:

You poor thing!! It was suck to have to skip out on all those rides! Ohhh the things we do for our babies. :lmao:

I'm having a BOY!!!! He's due December 9th! His first name will be Jayden and Middle name Trevor, after my DH's BFF that died of cancer back in 2001. We're so blessed that we're going to now have a boy and a girl. :) I have the latest picture of his ultrasound on my PTR if you're ever intrested..... I'm such a proud mamma already, he's just TOO cute. :)

Is your baby kicking a lot? My goodness mine treats my insides like a punching bag! He's abusing me as we speak.

loving the update!!! Geese schools is the south really do go back early!! My DS still has 3 weeks of vacation left!! :sad2:

What a great update! Sorry J looks frustrated with the crowds and such. I hope he starts to love it. Michael is the same way with the heat. I really, really hope this doesn't cause a problem. He gets super grumpy with the heat. And sometimes with waking up early :upsidedow I love the picture of you with the umbrella!! So cute. And sorry you can't ride many of the rides. Thankfully there are only a few in each park--right? Can't wait to hear how you liked Sci-Fi! We're eating there...

Great update! I didn't even know you could make it rain by the umbrella. Thanks for teaching me something new LOL. I'm not a big fan of Star Tours either. It's outdated and shakes you around like crazy; that being said I still go on it. :rotfl: But I understand where J's coming from! I can't wait to ride TSM!!!

What a fun update! Too bad you weren't able to go on some of the rides at Hollywood Studio (I'm like you -- I still think of it as MGM!), but what fun it will be when you get to take your little one back! Can't wait to see more pics.

I am dying to find that umbrella. I really cant ever findit and it makes me sad!!

It must be sad that you couldn't go on the rides...but at the same time- who cares? You're having a baby- thats the biggest ride of them all!

Loving the pictures!! Keep them coming! It helps get me through days that Vinnie doesnt want to do our trip review!

LOVE your view at the Boardwalk. That seems like a wonderful sight to wake up to every morning :lovestruc

Congrats on the little bundle of joy on the way! Looking forward to reading more.

Enjoying your TR! And waiting to see if J's frown turns to a smile...

Wasn't TSM fun? Yeah, the guys are used to that stuff and tend to get the higher score, but still...the waiting area was awesome itself! We also went straight to TSM at rope drop, and the FP line looked to be as long as the standby line, so we just went standby (not knowing how long the line was inside)

Thanks!! It was an awesome balcony! And it was huge!!
Be sure to head to Toy Story first when you guys go in January. The kids will LOVE it! And so will you!!

I did have a couple of moments where I was a little bummed about the rides. But I know I'll be back!
Congrats on the boy! I'd love to see the pic! We're going Monday for the ultrasound, so hopefully we'll find out!! Baby hasn't been kicking enough for me to really notice, but I'm waiting for it....

loving the update!!! Geese schools is the south really do go back early!! My DS still has 3 weeks of vacation left!! :sad2:

Oh my gosh, yes! It used to start earlier in August, so I guess this is a little better. It is so exhausting trying to get back into the swing of things...Mornings come too early! ;)

I knew the crowds and heat would be a little bit of an issue, but we managed! And J learned to deal! :thumbsup2 And I promise to post soon! School has been so crazy this week!

I'm telling ya! These Boards are FULL of fun facts and info!! I actually look forward to riding Star Tours when we head back. I loved it so much growing up!

Thanks! It will always be MGM to me, hehe! And I can't wait 'til we go back again, especially with kids!!

I'm trying to remember where it is for sure. I want to say by all the cool sets of New York City and such. Good luck in finding it on your next trip!

Congrats on the little bundle of joy on the way! Looking forward to reading more.

It was soooo beautiful!! I loved the Boardwalk! I know we'll probably stay somewhere else next time, but it's tempting to want to go back!
And thanks! We hope to find out what we're having next week!!

Enjoying your TR! And waiting to see if J's frown turns to a smile...

I figured it would be fun, but we had a great time riding Toy Story! It's perfect for kids of all ages!! Naturally I can't wait to ride it again when we go back!! :woohoo:

Hey everyone!! I'm sorry it's been a while! School started back this week and I am soooo tired!! It's tough for teachers to get back in the swing of things.
I promise to post soon!! Probably this weekend! And then we have our ultrasound on Monday and we'll (hopefully!) find out what to expect in a couple of months! OHHH!! Can't wait!!!:banana::banana:

Yay!! That's soooo exciting that you'll be able to find out what your baby will be :goodvibes When are you due? I can't remember if you said when or not...

Wow! Great TR so far :) I have got to say you are one of the cutest preggo's i've seen!!! TSM looks like sooooo much fun! When I went last summer, it had only been open a few weeks. The sb time was 90 minutes but we ended up waiting 120 and we weren't even half-way through the line...so, I didn't get to go on :( but, that's for the next trip! Can't wait to read more! Congrat's on the mini mousketeer!!!

I know!! I can't wait 'til Monday! I totally plan on drinking a soda in hopes the baby won't be fast asleep with its legs crossed. And I'm due late January, around the 25th! :cloud9:

Thank you so much!! TSM was great! You really do have to head there first thing in the morning and it is sooooo worth it!

Hey folks! I'm sorry it's taken longer than I expected to finish Day 2. School started back this past week and I was sooooo tired every night. Most days I came home, had dinner with J, then was in bed by 7:30 or 8. Seriously! Those 5:00am wake-up calls really get to ya!
So, where we left off! After we picked up the FP's for ToT and RnRC for J, we headed towards Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. We were still pretty early and on the way saw Donald giving autographs. J and I figured we could stop and grab a photo, so we got in line. 5 minutes later the lady tells us that the family right in front of us will be the last. WHAT?!? Oh well, we knew we would see some characters at our meals this week, so no loss.
On to Sci-Fi we go! We were still early and there was already a huge crowd! Glad we had ressies! So we waited for about 10 minutes before they started calling folks to their cars. For some reason, my flash was acting weird. This is the only "decent" shot I got of the actual restaurant.
IMG_1593.jpg

I could tell J really liked this place! And the little shows and commercials running were hillarious!!
IMG_1603.jpg

The family in the car with us didn't talk the entire meal, so J and I just kind of kept to ourselves.
IMG_1604.jpg

Now I knew going into this place (again, thanks to the wonderful DIS Boards!) that one of the best things to get was a burger with onion rings and a shake. J and I decided to split a meal since we had dinner plans. We ordered an Oreo shake. Yum!
IMG_1597.jpg

Paid OOP for an appetizer of onion rings. They were delicious!
IMG_1598.jpg

We decided that instead of fries with our burger (since we had the onion rings) to get the other option, a veggie bean relish thing. The waitress said it was good. Our opinion, not so much.
IMG_1600.jpg

The burger came already cut in half and was fantastic!!
IMG_1599.jpg

All in all, we enjoyed Sci-Fi as our first table service meal at Disney. The atmosphere really helped!
After lunch it was time for a rematch at Toy Story! Let's go, J!! Bring it on!!
The stand-by line at this point was up to 110 minutes! WOW! To be honest, it felt so great to have our Fast Passes (yes, a little guilty pleasure there for ya, hehe!). So on we went! This time I was determined just to shoot everything I could!!
One of the rounds I remember with the darts! And I was ahead!! Ha ha ha!!
Then the next round was with the ring toss and J got ahead again. Ugh! There was no redeeming myself. Final score:
IMG_1608.jpg

If you notice, though, my score improved dramatically. J tried to reassure me that had we gone for a 3rd round I would have probably won.
"Uh, thanks, honey. Too bad that can't happen."
Oh well, it was still fun. Afterwards we went to Disney Animation and sat through the presentation. I saw the characters from UP were giving autographs and the line was pretty short. So J and I got in line and took our pics with them!! I love Doug!! He reminds me of one of my doggies!!
IMG_1613.jpg

We then walked around a little bit 'til it was time for J to redeem his ToT FP. I did explain to him that it is a really cool ride and not just a drop. Somewhere along the conversation he realized you didn't stand! :rotfl: Poor honey, no wonder he wasn't sure. But he decided to give it a go!
So J headed off while I hung out on Sunset Blvd and did a little window shopping.
IMG_1617.jpg

There were also a few street performers starting up. They were pretty funny!
IMG_1623.jpg

J and I met up after ToT. He LOVED it!! Of course I knew he would! We hung out for a bit while we waited for his RnRC FP time to be ready. It was a this point where I really started to get a little blue about missing out on some of the big-kid fun. Here's a shot of me pouting!
IMG_1624.jpg

Oh well, I knew a little shopping would help! So J gave me some cash to spend while he went on RnRC again! I ended up buying my mom a coffee cup that says "Grandma" and buying J one with Donald. Aren't I nice?! ;)
We met back up afterwards and decided it was time to head back to the hotel. Silly us decided to walk again at 2:30 in the afternoon. Hot!! Needless to say, we were both ready for a nap! I think I slept until about 5. Then we got up, got dressed and headed to Epcot.
Our dinner ressies weren't for a little while so we headed over to the Imagination Pavillion. We went on the Figment ride. It was pretty cute! Then went to Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. It seemed to take forever for us to get into the auditorium. Lots of waiting around. I was getting a little worried about our ressies. We were supposed to be at the Garden Grill at 7:30 and it was getting close to 7:20!! :scared1: So we sat through the show then hauled outta there!!
By the time we got to the restaurant, it was 7:35. We waited for about 10 minutes. It's a pretty cool place inside this pavillion!
IMG_1626.jpg

IMG_1627.jpg

IMG_1628.jpg

We were soon seated and got the food coming. Oh My Gosh!!! This place was sooooooooo good!!! I am so glad we didn't change our reservations! They have totally revamped the menu! For example, instead of catfish they served Mahi Mahi. Everything was fantastic!
Needless to say, we started to eat before picture taking again! Dang it!! But we still got a few shots!
Here's the salad which was wonderful! It had Ranch dressing and was so creamy! The veggies were all so fresh!!
IMG_1633.jpg

IMG_1632.jpg

The bread was great, too!
IMG_1631.jpg

Now the food is not buffet style where you serve yourself. The waiter will bring you as much of everything that you want. The entrees were served on a big platter. Of course we got into it (again!) before I took a photo! But I managed to put a little serving of everything on my plate for a pic!
The turkey came with a dressing that was soooo good! Made me wish for Thanksgiving! The fish came with some veggies. Now, I'm kind of a picky fish eater, but this Mahi Mahi was to-die-for!! The flank steak came with little potatoes and were great, too!
IMG_1645.jpg

To top it off, the dessert came out! A blueberry cobbler with homemade whipped cream!!
IMG_1655.jpg

Cont on next post!!

Day 2 cont (cont)
(Had to edit for a very important conversation. How could I forget!?!?!)
While we were having our wonderful meal, J flat out says that he wants to return...for real!! So we decided to recreate the conversation for the camera!
"Ya know, I really do want to come back to Disney."
IMG_1634.jpg

"Really?!?!?! YAY!!!!"
IMG_1635.jpg

Just had to through out that wonderful moment. So now you all are my witnesses to J stating he wants to come back and, in fact promised he would bring me back! HA!!

To top off a wonderful meal, we also got to meet a few celebrities!!
IMG_1644.jpg

IMG_1640.jpg

Here's a shot of J treating Pluto like he would our boys at home! Can you tell we miss them?
IMG_1638.jpg

IMG_1652.jpg

The waiter had noticed we were celebrating, so he got all the characters to sign a card for us!
IMG_1657.jpg

After the meal, J and I both felt we could use a walk around World Showcase. We managed to catch the end of Illuminations.
IMG_1660.jpg

All of WS was closed by this point, but it was so peaceful. We really enjoyed walking around (and walking off some of that food!).
IMG_1661.jpg

IMG_1678.jpg

IMG_1680.jpg

IMG_1684.jpg

IMG_1691.jpg

We finally made it around the lagoon and decided to head home. Another long, yet magical day at Disney World!
Up next! Typhoon Lagoon in the morning! Will J fight getting out of bed early again?!

GREAT update!! You guys look so cute in the car at Sci-Fi! We are totally going to check that restaurant out when we go back.

Let me say, you are a trooper!! Not only did you deal so well with not being able to ride the rides, you also walked A LOT for a tired preggers lady! I am so impressed..you did not miss a beat:love:

SO happy you could report on Garden Grill. That was one that I was curious about. Looked AWESOME. Another one to put on the list!

Can't wait to see what TL looks like...I have never been!

PS: Saw you were 18 weeks! That is when I found out my 2nd was a boy. Are yall finding out..or do you already know? And I know what you mean about school. I started last week and still am trying to adjust.:goodvibes

Aww, I love the character pictures! Very cute. Glad you liked the Sci-Fi! We always got a kick out of the little video clips they play.
