Actually, you should be feeling overjoyed about this trip. By renting from offsite, your husband will have the scooter 24/7 so he can just drive it around the entire time. Plus - you'll have space to store any purchase you make and your husband won't get tired. He'll be able to use any queues that are accessible so you're not going to be getting special treatment and the Cast Members are great with helping people in scooters and wheelchairs. He can transport from the scooter to a ride vehicle so all is good for that.

The only thing I would highly advise is once you have the scooter is for him to practice backing the thing up. And stopping quickly as some guests don't realize there is a scooter nearby and can walk in front of him without really seeing him.

We had the same situation in January with my DH. We didn't rent a scooter offsite, but we did rent in the parks. He could hobble a little with his boot, so he just hobbled around the resort and to the busses. We stayed at POFQ, so it was a smaller resort. At the parks, they usually have "courtesy wheelchairs" by the bus stops. I would push him to the scooter rental location, and go from there.

There were a few times that having the scooter was an inconvenience, but for the most part it was fine! I usually tried to walk in front of him to "clear a path" for him to drive through. Also, while in lines for things such as Soarin, or the Safari, I would always stand in front of him. I figured that way, if he did accidentally roll into someone, at least it was me instead of a stranger!
