HSC gift cards

If I have a $25.00 cift card and only spend $20.00 what happens to the remaining $5.00?

Do they give you change???

I just recently used the target cards I got from HSC. They just tell you whats left on the card and it's on your slip. So I don't think they give you change. It may be different with other stores. Once at a toy store there was one cent left on a gift card my dd got for her B-day and even then they didn't give the penny they just asked if we wanted to keep the card or have them through it away.

I have a gift card from the Disney store that has a pennie on it.
I told the girl forget it but she said she had to give it to me.
Figured I give it to my little niece to play with....

It depends on each retailer (whether or not you get it from them or HSC or any other 3rd party). Most retailers now keep the balance on the gift card, but some still give cash back when the balance falls below a certain amount (usually $5). I read that retailers make quite a bit off inactive gift card fees, or forgotten gift card balances.
