Hi,

HS has a lot of shows. We are coming in Oct with DS9 and DD5.

I have 3 FP rides for DS no problem, but have room for another FP for DD. Most of our rides are already in our plan such as Toy Story (FP), Little Mermaid, Disney Jr, Backlot Tour, Beauty and Beast. So my question is...which rides / attractions in HS that DD5 could go to more than once? (aside from Toy Story)

e.g. Muppet Vision? Little Mermaid?

I feel like there will be a lot of empty time for my younger one

Besides TSM, the only ride we go on over and over is Star Tours. We once rode it 6 times in one day. It's not the same every time (there are something like 56 combinations of scenes you can see) so it's a good one for a re-ride. Over and over and over again.

Because the shows are the same, I don't see why anyone would want to see them more than once in a day, unless they really, really loved one of them. BaTB is probably the only one that I'd consider watching more than once in a day, but we barely have time to fit it in even once.

There are so many characters to meet and other things to do at DHS that I wouldn't worry about down time for your 5 year old. Just because you have the ability to book another FP+ for her doesn't mean you have to.

Do you think she'd like collecting pressed pennies? That can end up taking a lot of time if you let it. You could also let her get her face painted while her brother was using one of his FP+s. If he's using one for Star Tours but you don't think she's going to want to ride it, there is a face painting station right by the ride that you could spend some time at.

Yeah...I have Star Tours for DS but not DD (which is part of the reason why I'll need a filler). Likewise, with Great Movie Ride, and possibly Jedi Training if we can get it.

Didn't even think of meet and greets since I've been dismissing them (due to having character meals), but that's an option. Thanks...she might like face painting as well. I love all the shows at HS, but at the same time, a shame there aren't repeatable attractions.

There are a lot of characters that are unique to DHS that you can't find anywhere else, including character meals. Jake and Sofia (though they're both at H&V during breakfast and lunch), Wreck It Ralph & Vanellope, Mike and Sully from Monster's Inc., Phineas & Ferb. Buzz and Woody are also together (though they can be found separately at other parks).

Thanks. Not her favorite characters, but maybe she'd be interested in Sophia or Mike and Sully. Otherwise, sounds like there are things to fill in the time. I know there is Art of Animation and Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground are options too. Oh well...no real repeat rides in HS then then.

I personally usually make DHS a half day park for that reason

I'll rope drop do TSMM standby, meet buzz & woody, head over to ToT, do that area, then kinda peace out after fp & lunch to return for Fantasmic.

Repeats for younger kids could inclue: TSM, Disney JR, Voyage, Muppets,

I like to watch beauty & the beast twice, but I love that show!

Yeah, totally get that. For our DS, it's a full day, but not as much for DD (but there are some great shows for her). And not likely we would ride TSMM again without FP

One thing you could do with a small child that likes drawing is the animation academy. If you've never done it, it's a 30 minute lesson in drawing a Disney character Now, admittedly, they probably won't have the skill or patience to draw along with the animator, but if you have the patience to draw with her it can be a lot of fun. Our DDs been enjoying it since she was 5.

The HiStK playground is a good place for a 5-year old as well, though the 9-year old might like it too.

Also, the Disney Junior show is probably to "kiddie" a show for your nine-year old. Might be a good thing to take the 5-year old while the 9-year old is doing something too intense with Dad.

None of that really helps with your extra FP+ though! (I am assuming here you are matching the kids FP+ with one of the parents.) My recommendation would get an extra set of FP+ for a ride that DS would like. Then switch the MB temporarily for that ride. This way, for instance, you could each take DS once on Star Tours, having one each for you and DH, and then 2 for DS while you switch off for DD. Just an idea.

We love the drawing classes. We have two Disney daughters, one is a drawer and one is not but they both love the classes. Also I have kept all our drawings, one day when they are all grown I will make a collage or some such thing. They make excellent souvenirs, just make sure to date them and put your child ages on them, and they are cheap souvenirs. These classes are some of our better Disney moments, note I didn't say best, but better, we have had some good hee haws over this class. It is just something that is always on our to do list.

That's great...thanks for the drawing tip. Am noting it as a possible filler.
And yes, DH and DS FP would be the same and DD and mine would match. I've heard people mention magic band swap..wasn't sure if they'd really check.

I guess I should also verify....I am avoiding Great Movie Ride for DD5 as I've heard there are scary alien scenes. Correct? She does get scared easily. I do have Backlot Tour marked if we have time (but for all of us).
(Currently I also have all of us seeing Lights Motors Action, but only DS seeing Indiana Jones show, mostly to fit in Beauty and the Beast for DD/me only)

MY DD5 rode on Star Tours and was actually picked as the character on the screen at the beginning of the ride. She has talked about it a lot since then and can't wait to ride it again. Even knowing that it probably won't happen again.

Why not everyone ride Star Tours together? DHS is a complete full day park if you try to fit everything in with way they have the shows scheduled without having to even think of repeating anything.

Assuming she does not get motion sickness and meets the height requirement.

I think Star Tours may a bit too much from her from the description (plus she's not into Star Wars), so at the moment I have it coordinated with one of the shows that DS wouldn't be interested in. That is cute about your DD though.

But am wondering about Great Movie Ride...if it is scary for 5 year olds (who scare).

Star Tours, for sure. I think Muppet Vision may even be a good choice, as kids are usually fairly tolerant of watching the same thing repeatedly if it's something they enjoy. The Honey, I Shrunk the Kids could also be a good spot to let a kid go wild.

I have found that what my kids find scary and what I think they would find scary are completely at odds. I've never done the Great Movie Ride, so I can't comment on that. Winnie the Pooh scares my son, but he's not scared by Star Tours. There are part of the Little Mermaid ride that scare him, too, but he loves Splash Mountain. Neither kid will ride BTMRR or set foot on the Barnstormer, but they'd do Splash over and over again if I let them.

I really think that you should let her try a few rides that you think are questionable and see if she's scared. It isn't like you're dragging her onto RNRC or Space Mountain...the rides you're asking about are pretty tame.

My DS doesn't really like the Great Movie ride that much, but he has never been scared by it. I can't see really seeing any of the shows twice though. So I don't know what to suggest. My DS loved the drawing class when he was 4. And what is really cool is if you are lucky to get to draw a character that is in the parks, you can have the character sign the picture that your DD drew. We did that with Mickey one year, when my DS was 6 or 7.

Again no real help. Sorry.

During the "Alien" part of GMR, first you see Siguerney Weaver(pretty sure I spelled that wrong) hiding from the Alien, and then the Alien comes down from the ceiling as if he's going to get you. There is noise also, from steam-like stuff that appears with him. It doesn't last long at all, he's only technically over a couple rows of the vehicle, and your DD could just hide her eyes:). You'll know the part is coming after you see Siguerney on the left - plus anyone in your vehicle who has been on the ride before will start looking up lol. Neither of my boys was ever scared to the point of having a fit but my DS12 still closes his eyes at that part......:rolleyes2

I agree with a pp who said maybe take DD on one or two rides you aren't sure will frighten her or not, not that I want her scared but I agree sometimes what we think will scare them and what actually does is different. There are so many good parts of GMR, they might outweigh a moment or two of unease she has.
And if she ends up not liking it, you can just buy her a Mickey bar after:earsgirl:

Thanks for explaining. It actually really helps putting it into perspective. Actually, didn't realize it's a ride. Sounds awesome for me, but I think that would really freak her out. Am with you all though, in trying something that she might be scared and I have a few of those at MK, and even Epcot.

Ah yes...those famous Mickey Bars. We've been on a Disney cruise and our kids had one for dessert EVERY dinner. They loved them.:goodvibes

We have avoided the GMR because our DD11 is scared of things like that. I agree what you think will scare your kid isn't always what does, but it would definitely scare our DD before now. I think at this age she could do it, but we also haven't gone because the ride kinda sucks.
