are there any sit down restaurants at hollywood studios? we have the dining plan and will be spending a whole day at HS....thought i should go ahead and book a dinner for that day. suggestions please!

There are five sit down restaurants:

- Brown Derby (2 TS restaurant)
- 50s Prime Time (American comfort food with a 1950s family theme)
- Sci Fi Dine In (Drive in movie theater theme - you sit in a car and watch clips from old movies.)
- Hollywood and Vine (buffet with characters at breakfast and lunch)
- Mama Melrose (Italian, old NY Italian restaurant theme)

In addition to these choices, you can go outside the park. Haven't done this yet, but we're planning to go to Cape May's Clambake dinner on our DHS day. It's a short boat ride away, at the Beach Club.

We have eaten at both Mama Melrose's and Prime Time Cafe and had good food and good service at both!

Mama Melrose's is Italian and Prime Time is a 50"s theme. They aren't high end. The first time we had scheduled to go to Mama's we almost didn't because the reviews on here were soooo horrible...but since it was our first visit, we figured why not...It was one of the best meals we ate during that trip and the server was way above excellent, especially with the two kids.

Prime Time...the same way. Some people love it, some people hate it...us, it's fine. We had the Pot Roast and the kids loved the antics of the servers.

Since our initial trip, we have been back to both and always had good food and good service. We were on the Basic Dining Plan each time we ate at them.

We also ate at Brown Derby on our June trip. It was nice. The decor was nice. The food was okay. It is to be fine dining...but it is hard to consider a place fine dining when you are seated next to a group wearing muscle shirts who just came in from the park! It won't disappoint mind you, but with so many restaurants to choose from...we'll probably just go somewhere else next.

We've eaten at Mama Melrose ... it used to get lots of bad reviews; however, the food was very good on both of our visits. Service was good the first visit, but rather slow with a non-attentive waitstaff the second visit.

Unfortunately, the unattentive waitstaff situation has been an issue at more than one WDW restaurant in my experience over the past year or so.

Reporting back about our late September visit to Mama Melrose. Food was good and our server, Michael, was SUPER!!!!

We've eaten at Brown Derby and Hollywood & Vine. The BD was so disappointing. Our waitress was awful (spilled food on us TWICE) and the food was sub-par. We'll never go back. H&V is your typical Disney buffet. The food was okay. We probably won't go back, but that's mainly b/c we aren't huge buffet people.

We've eaten at Brown Derby, 50's Prime Time and SciFi.
Like them all. Have done them many times. Brown Derby only for lunch though....love the Cobb Salad.
50's is a must do every trip. Sci Fi about every other.

50's Primetime is a family tradition for us. It's nothing super special, but we do enjoy the food and if you get a fun waitress it can be quite entertaining.
