HS Midday Break

We're heading back to Walt Disney World next spring with our two kids - ages 5 and 8 and I've already started strategizing!

I'm planning to take a midday break each day, and I've got a few good ideas where to relax in most of the parks, but I'm stumped on one: Where is a cool quiet place to rest at Hollywood Studios?

There's the Backlot Express with self service refills. It's busy at lunch but can be OK later in the afternoon. There's also the Magic of Disney Animation area.

ABC Commissary. Great AC and bathrooms, seems a bit less hectic to me than Backlot Express, and TVs everywhere to transfix the kids (they only show previews of shows - not entire shows). The lines to buy food are horribly slow (we go right when it opens and it still takes forever), but I find it a great place for a calm "AC break."

Or, the animation house where you can meet Sorcerer Mickey et al. There is alot of open space and a few benches, and lots of walls to sit on the floor and put your back against. AC of course (indoors). Assuming your kids won't insist of going to one of the 4 lines to meet characters, its a great AC break.

You could also hop a boat to the boardwalk area. It is very pleasant during the day and there are tables and the bakery, etc. Or it would be about a 10 minute walk.

When we really want a break at HS, we head to Beach Club and Beaches and Cream for ice cream. The cones are snacks on the DDP, but we get sundaes and/or milkshakes.

HS is show heavy. Not quiet, but anytime you want to sit for a while, you can just pop into a show. Little Mermaid and Muppets run over and over all day, so if your timing isn't right for a scheduled show, you can use one of those. Also the Great Movie Ride is a 20 minute ride. We always fell like HS is our slow day, because there is a lot of sitting that day.
