HRH or PBH

Lisa 3,

My family just got back from a 5 night stay at the HRH, boy 13, girl 9, me and hubby, stayed club level, standard room. Like you, we were debating which hotel, when the kids went online and insisted on the Hard Rock. Must admit the 5 minute walk to the parks was VERY convenient. The boats ran every 20 minutes, too inconvenient when you are that close to the parks and Citywalk. They also have bike surreys on the paths to the hotels that will drive you to your hotel (we only did that once when we got caught in a thunderstorm) or to the parks. The pool at the HRH was terrific, the kids loved the slide, the lifeguards were so friendly with lots of activities for the kids. We didn't rent a cabana but my son "commandeered" one during our stay, to our chagrin, he watched the World Cup soccer game on the TV and fell asleep in the lounge chair. No one bothered him. I wouldn't suggest trying that! Our room also had two sinks, one inside the bathroom, one outside. The room was as large as the one we had at the Grand Floridian last year. You should be able to fit your family. You won't be in your room that much, anyway, the hotel has so much to see and do! Have fun.

Well, I switched our reservations to a standard room at HRH. I will keep checking to see if a Deluxe Queen opens up. Funny thing, I booked the new room with no problem but when I went back to cancel the PBH reservation it kept coming up No Reservation Found. I have a confirmation number and email from them. Finally, I called the hotel directly. Took awhile but she said she finally found us (not sure if she really did or just was saying this to put my mind at ease). We could have driven all the way from NJ only to find we were not in the system! I wonder what kind of upgrade we would have gotten with that error (or maybe we would have had to stay in the car!).

That's why I always tell people to call the hotel 2 weeks before and check their reservation. Then call a day before you leave just to be sure. For some reason, the HRH system seems to "lose" reservations, especially to those using the AAA code. Most people are compensated for their troubles, but it can mean staying at an offsite property for a day or two until a room is ready. Call before your trip and make sure your ressie is really there.
