Hi Everybody,

I need the advice of the experts on this board. What would be a good cabana to reserve at the HRH?

Although we are staying at the PBH, I have my 72 year old mother travelling with us. To her, heaven would be a good book, in a cabana, by the pool. We thought we would drop her off there and then head over to Studios and then rejoin her for a mid-afternoon swim. There will be 5 kids with us - 17, 15, 10, 8 and 8.

So, which one should we request?

Thanks in advance!!

I don't remember which cabana we had when we were there for my birthday almost two years ago. I also got the cabana with the comfort of my (then 70 y/o) mother in mind. We had a nice time by the pool for sure, however, my mom did not care for the loud music that was played in the pool area. We asked, but were told that they could not turn off/down the speaker by our cabana. Don't know if this will be an issue for your mom or not. I hear they have cabanas at PBH as well.

If you are thinking location for the kids I'd say cabana #10 because it's right near the slide and volley ball court - if your mom would rather be closer to the Beachclub and the rest rooms I'd say cabana #1 or #2 - here's a link to an old thread with lots of info and maps on the HRH cabanas: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=401877

DS and I rented a cabana for the afternoon several years ago when staying at RPR - it worked out great for us - we even changed and went back into USF for a few hours after ordering dinner from the Beachclub - then back to the pool/cabana for a nighttime swim - since then we've been lucky enough to try out most of the cabanas at HRH - we love 'em! :smooth:

I'm pretty new to this board and going to Universal for the 1st time with my family of 5 (3 small kids) later this month. Can someone give me the lowdown on cabanas - how they work, what they cost, do you have to reserve them ahead of time?? Thanks so much.

Thanks All,

I have #7 and #8 reserved. My first choice was 9 and 10, but 9 was already gone.

Anybody have anything good or bad to say about 7 and 8?

Thanks!!

3 Mousketeers,

The thread that Bjakmom posted will tell you everything you want to know about locations and descriptions of the cabanas.

I would definitely recommend reserving early - as evidenced that I did not get my first choice for our trip in July and it is the beginning of June. Amy at recreation said they are going quickly, so she recommended that if I want to make changes, I make them soon.

The price was $125.00 for the day for the themed Cabana - included 12 sodas, 4 waters, 2 floats.

The price for the unthemed cabana was 100.00 for the day - 6 sodas, 2 waters and no floats.

cabanas were available from pool open to pool close.

You have until 9pm the night before to cancel without penalty - otherwise 1/2 price is charged to your room.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Goofy. Found Bjakmom's post. Very helpful b/c we'll be at RPR. Only 3 cabanas there I guess so I'll get the info on availability asap. BTW, you guys have been great in answering my newbie questions. I try to search first so I don't waste your time but I guess I didn't do a good search for this question! :)

Thats all right - as the OP, you might notice I didn't do a search first either. I should have, but the wonderful people on this board are so helpful and are so quick to share all the important info.

Goofy - I have some pics of #'s 7 & 8 posted from our Dec trip on the photopost site here on the DIS - if you go to the theme parks attactions and strategies forum there is a sticky at the top that will lead you to photopost - do a search under my username and you should pull up my photos - #7 is the yellow submarine cabana and I have a close up of it - 7 & 8 are in a photo taken from a little further back across the kiddie pool. We were in # 9 last time and it is a great location right next to 7 & 8 - especially if you have little ones for the kiddie pool - it is right in front of your cabana ! :smooth: (I could be a lot more helpful if I could remember how to post them here from there - but I'm a bit 'brain dead' tonight ! )

Thanks Bjakmom. Great Pics. And awfully cute!! Although we originally would have liked 9 and 10, I think we will be just as happy with 7 & 8.

Thanks to everyone and the helpful info they gave on cabanas....

I just booked #10 for a Friday in July, and #9 for Sat and Sun. I was told that #10 (which is a stevie wonder-inspired theme) had a great view of the dive-in movie and is also close to the slide.

I'm so excited I can hardly wait!!!

Does anyone know what time the dive-in movie is? We have dinner at Tchoup Chop that night and I'm hoping to make it afterward.
