i am coming to you from my new $99 hp touch pad............I realize that HP is not going to support the web Os so there will be no updates or new apps.......but......for plain old web browsing and such its a pretty nice machine. Best buy sold out of about 270 thousand of them at this price. It is comparable to a first generation I pad. Anyone else take advantage of this closeout?

dalt01 - from what I understand, it's only the TouchPad that's being discontinued. HP is still moving forward with their operating system and are in the works to have other companies use it on their devices. HP has also said they will continue to support the operating systems on the HP TouchPad. They just decided not to make the actual TouchPad anymore.

I hope you enjoy it...it was a great deal!

How did you manage to get the system?

A coworker who is a Master Bargain Hunter has been trying to get one. He heard about the close out prices and almost had two but the store was already sold out.

I tried to pick one up, finally found it in stock at Barnes & Noble, but the site wouldn't let me complete the check out. :guilty:

HP is a vendor partner in my store, they have a store within a store with us. The WebOS is not gone, just the hardware side of WebOS, mobile phones/tablets (there is a phone still coming out but just in the EU and it should be the last one.) If the developers are willing to make apps they will be there and and I hear that they may bring WebOS to other hardware, kind of like Apple's widgets, at least that is what it sound like to me.

We only had the 32gb model, but I did get it at staff discount, so got a really great deal. Will be giving it to my niece for her 19th, I would give her an iPad but she doesn't take enough care with her electronics to warrant that kind of gift.

Like my dad always says......it's not what you know, it's who you know.
