My kid is now obsessed with Japanese Kit Kat. We can find a few stores that have them - in various flavors such as green tea, chestnut, raspberry, etc. I think they have durian too but I haven't seen it. But my kid found out about these custard pudding ones which I guess are supposed to be similar to toasted flan or what Chinese bakeries call "Portuguese style" egg custard tarts.
We don't read Japanese and didn't look up instructions, so we just popped a couple of pieces in a toaster over for three minutes and it just melted without browning. And it just made a mess too. A little closer look at the package (and YouTube) shows that it's supposed to be frozen first, which I suppose keeps it from melting too quickly while it browns. So overnight in the freezer and tried it again where it did work. I'm not quite sure what the point is other than they do all sorts of strange things in Japan.
