How's the quality of the food at the Contempo Cafe?

Looking at the menu, I'm getting the vibe that it should be somewhat comparable in taste and quality to something like Panera Bread.

Is that a reasonably accurate comparison or is it noticeable worse than that? Would anyone compare it to some other known entity?

I'd say more like a Cosi. I think the food quality is excellent, especially for quick service. The computer ordering can be a little tricky though I think they have improved since it first opened.

I say Panera is probably close. But of all the places we have stayed, this is my least favorite CS place. I don't like the touch screen ordering. I couldn't figure out how to ask them NOT to put something on my sandwich.

I really enjoyed Contempo Cafe. We stayed at BLT so I ate there at least once a day during our trip.
The french toast in the morning was really good, and I liked the Honey Lime Chicken sandwich.
They might have improved the touch screen, bc I found it really easy and loved being able to order this way. And I'm the queen of "hold the _____". Think Sally on When Harry Met Sally, that's me.

I've occasionally had that issue too - all you have to do is go to the kitchen/cashier and tell them. I often ordered the turkey/arugula/apple sandwich without the cheese.

But the touch screen is actually pretty good. Many items, including burgers (cheese or no cheese), salads (dressing mixed in, on the side, or none at all), chicken sandwich (with cheese and/or salsa) can be customized on the machine.

And the food is very good for CS. I love the marinated beef flatbread with arugula, goat cheese, tomato, and caramelized onions. There are some interesting cupcakes, as well.

I guess we were there on an off day because I thought the food was terrible. Also, I didn't like the idea of birds flying in from the opening in the wall for the monorail and their droppings, while we were eating.

We like the contempo cafe, both breakfast and lunch. Good value for the money, easy to order at the touch screen, quick service...... Only problem I've seen is when there is a conference going on in the hotel it gets really busy at lunch time. They all come out at the same time and its a nightmare. I've been on the conference side of it too, and its still awful.

We ate at the Contempo twice last weekend. I found the touchscreens to be easy and efficient.
The food is typical disney offerings. The breakfast was almost exactly like you can get at any other resort.
For lunch we had the Chopped Chicken Salad and the Ham Sandwich. They were good and refreshing, but nothing out of the ordinary.

we've only been once in 2009 and I'm afraid I don't know the US restaurants so can't compare but we had a great meal - the kids also got a buzz out of sitting watching the monorail go by. We had burgers and chicken ceasar salad - all were good.

We stayed at CR last summer and ate at the Contempo Cafe every day for breakfast and twice for lunch. I thought it was great. For breakfast DH really liked the platter and the panini like breakfast sandwich. For lunch, the beef flatbread was fantastic. We paid OOP for breakfasts and thought the price was reasonable - I think it was around $15/day for the 2 of us to have a nice hearty breakfast and drink (we didn't do refillable mugs). For lunch we used the DDP, so I don't really remember much about the cost of lunch.

I personally think the Contempo Cafe is one of the best Quick Service locations in all of WDW and I think their menu is a lot better then any Panera Bread location. One thing I like is that all their Salads are made fresh each time you order them, so they are not pre-made and kept inside a fridge all day like other Quick Service locations across WDW.

I don't know what Panera is, but this was one of my favourite things that I ate two years ago. soooooooo goooooooooooood.......
