How's the FP+ situation for off-siters?

How is this possible? Booking one night at a campsite you wouldn't even use allowed you to choose FP for your entire trip? Wouldn't they only allow you to book for 1 day?

AP holder. It allowed me to book all 7 days of AP once I had any onsite reservation. I could have canceled the reservation inside 30-days as well and keep all the FPs. However, I did not do that because I want the EMH for AK and Epcot.
