Hi Disney travelers,
We are considering a moderate resort to save some money but haven't heard too many things about Coronado Springs.

Pls advise - any pros/cons would be appreciated. Also vs. Port Orleans - these are the only two moderate resorts available during the April rush with the Spring discounts.

Thanks! :)

I needed a moderate too and based on everything I read on these boards, I chose Coronado Springs! It is BIG compared to some others so request a room in an area based on that knowledge - Cabanas are the most centrally located, then Casitas, Ranchos is nicely themed and private (so I hear) but a good sized walk to central. The themed pool looks like a blast for kids. And it sounds like the food market is not bad as food courts go. All in all, it looks great to me. (but yes, I'd rather do AKL or Poly - in a concierge way!;) )

have fun!

We loved Coronado and would stay there again in a minute. We stayed twice, first time we were given a free upgrade to a waterview room in Casitas 5 and were blown away. Second time, not so lucky, overlooked the parking lot ($79 AP rate, what should I expect?) - but the resort was still fabulous.

The Dig Site pool area is spectacular and has a huge spa. The waterslide compares to a waterpark version. I just love it. If you want quiet, there are several smaller pools scattered around the resort.

We didn't mind the sprawling layout of the resort because we enjoyed the scenery so much. If you want to be close to the lobby area, stay in Casitas 1 or 2, or the Cabanas (? #). I liked the atmosphere of Casitas the best - felt like a Mediterranean resort. Cabanas has a beachy them, Ranchos is a desert theme.

The bus service was efficient (better than AKL it seemed to me). We felt sorry for the masses of people waiting for the All-Stars bus at MK. Our bus stop was deserted!

The food court had many choices. We didn't eat at the main restaurant, but it looked good!

The atmosphere felt less chaotic and more laid back than some of the other resorts. The patrons seemed a bit older and quieter. But we were there during off-season both times. It is a conference hotel so there may be more business people (we saw some "suits" poolside...) - but it is definitely child friendly!

If you are trying to save money, want a great pool for kids, a laid-back atmosphere, and a luxury feel, I would definitely pick CSR.

A couple folks on the boards have great websites dedicated to CSR. I think EpcotFan is one?

Hello! Coronado Sprigs is our favorite moderate! We love staying there! :D They have great service and the atmosphere and theming is beautiful! The dig site and quiet pools are nice and big and the bus transportation is super fast! You're going to love this resort! :)

:D

I stayed at the CSR in 2002 and I would definitely stay there again. I stayed in the Ranchos section and thought it was the best themed. Yes, it's the farthest section from El Centro, but it's worth it. The walk in the morning to get breakfast was quiet and tranquil. The way the sun bounced off the rocks in the morning and early evening is an image that I can not describe here and give it justice. It's something you have to see for yourself. I wasn't too thrilled with the Pepper Market's system of paying, since a couple of times I got my own drinks and they still tried to charge me the 10% gratuity. They gave me a hard time about it once, until they realized that I wasn't going to budge. The pool is excellent. Big and spacious, it also has a great water slide. Make sure you check out Buzz2001's website for the CSR. Lots of great pics and info. Have a great time.

I think CSR feels the most "deluxe" of moderates. the resort has a terrific recreation area. CSR also has a health club and beauty salon which other mods don't. The Maya Grill is excellent and I found the portions to be huge. The Pepper Market has great variety and a fun atmosphere. I have pics and video on my website if you care to take a look.

We've stayed in WDW Resorts from All Stars to GF, and we think CSR is a great choice.:earsboy:
