We still want to get rid our our Spoodles ADR but just can't decide what to change it for. Dh wants to to try somewhere we haven't eaten at or already have an ADR for (a LOT of places, we're there for 3 weeks! :goodvibes ).

We loved chinese food and the children will eat a bit too.

What's it like here please?

Ok, since nobody else made a comment, I'll say that I have heard more negative comments than positive about it...many more.

I must disagree. I think Nine Dragons is wonderful! So is the counter service in China. I suppose it depends on how much you like Chinese food, though.

I can't comment on Nine Dragons but I will say that when we went to eat at the CS in China we ran away fast. It didn't look the least bit authentic. They seemed to be serving food you would most likely see in an American shopping mall food court not in China or even Chinatown. So if Nine Dragons is anything like the Lotus Blossom Cafe, I would pass.

:thumbsup2

We love Nine Dragons! Honey Sesame Chicken is wonderful. Gen. Tsos Chicken is very good. Better than any chinese restaurant I have ever been. DW doesnt really like this type food, but she really enjoys eating here.

Lotus Blossum is most likely Americanized Cantonese Chinese food. Personally, I really loved the food at LB last summer. We get the "real" Chinese food around here. Way different. Probably same as what you are referring to the stuff you get in Chinatown or China. It's the same with REAL Italian pizza from Naples. The average American would toss it in the trash.

We've been to Nine Dragons 4 times and the first three times were wonderful! The food was great! The very last time we were on the DDP and decided to get the most expensive entrees. Big mistake! Do not get the Sichuan Sea Treasures in Red Rice Sauce served at dinner time. It is horrible and tasteless. Other than that, highly recommend Nine Dragons. Have fun!!

By the way, 3 weeks?? WOW! :cool1:

Is the food at Nine Dragons much different than at Lotus Blossom? Just curious.

I have to say we have been to WDW many times and have eaten at a lot of the restaurants. We were in Disney last week and had to change our reservation from Japan teppenaki since the restaurant was behind shedule (our favorite and eat there every time) We were called and given Nine Dragons and a VIP area for illuminations.

I was very dissappointed with my meal. I ordered the shrimp stirfry with wonton as the appetizer. The veggies were just cauliflower and water chestnuts. The shrimp really was very tastless. I love Chinese food and left shrimp on my plate. I have never left shrimp uneaten. I love it almost any way!! The wonton was also the worst I have ever tasted. It was kind of spicey. My son did order and eat the peppersteak and found it to be fine. We did not like any of the desserts. There were Ginger and Chocolate cake as the choices and neither were eaten. I really am not a complainer about food and found most all of the other places we ate fine or even great (we were on the free dining for a week). Sorry to say that we did not find Nine Dragons to be that great. Just our thoughts.

We love Nine Dragons! IMO, it is the best restaurant in Epcot. Just don't order the salad in a vase!! :)

We had an early dinner (4:45) there two weeks ago. My kids loved it! They all had sweet and sour chicken or pork - 2 sons had the kids meal and dd had the adult serving. TONS of food! I enjoyed the Honey Sesame Chicken - it was very tasty. DH had Kung po chicken, which he enjoyed as well. The appetizers were a bit smaller than we expected - only 4 dumplings vs. the standard 6 we recieve at area places at home. However, dd ordered a dumpling type appetizer with shrimp and chicken (sorry, can't recall the name) and everyone loved it! The cucumber salad was also tasty - spicy, but good! Dessert was chocolate cake (made me think Sara Lee), ginger ice cream (which dd and I thought tasted like an chai tea latte - yumm) and the red bean ice cream, which the kids thought tasted like cotton candy (didn't care for it!) Service was very good and prompt with all things, refills, etc. We would definitely go there again!:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone, bit a mixed bag of replies. Hmm maybe we should just stick with Spoodles... :confused3

Thanks

I would stick with Spoodles, although I haven't eaten there either.

If you do enough searches for food reviews, you'll hear mixed reviews for every restaurant in WDW! ;)

We love Nine Dragons and have eaten there every trip.

Our meal at Nine Dragons last March was good, not great but do give a recommendation if you don't go there expecting the best and most authentic Chinese food around. I'm sure Orlando has better and cheaper Chinese Restaurants, but only Nine Dragons is in Epcot World Showcase and that alone can make the food taste better in my book.

If you're looking for good Chinese food, you're likely to be disappointed. You'll find better, cheaper in your own home town.

But if you're just looking for a change of pace during your week, then go ahead.

Don't know till you try it for yourself!

We tried Nine Dragons for the first time 9/25/07. :thumbsup2 We loved our meal. Good hot & sour soup, sweet and sour pork, and honey sesame chicken.

We enjoyed it so much we changed and ADR so we can return in December 2007.
