That's adorable!! If I tried to walk my cat on a leash like that, I would quickly get my eyeballs clawed out! LOL

I tried getting one of my cats to walk on a leash, but he's a master escape artist. He twists and rolls in such a way that he slips right out of the harness.

He snuck out when I opened the door today, but he took one look, said "I'm not going out there!" and ran right back inside.

We had a great day of sun and seemingly warm temps (30s?) which melted any scraped areas. Here a few shots from my time outside:

IMO...the saddest part of the whole storm. I'm so sorry NJ had to deal with this on top of the snow. That looks brutally COLD!

Our street got plowed this morning! All the highways and main roads have been clear since Sunday afternoon, but no one could reach them. Even 4 wheel drive vehicles were getting stuck in my neighborhood. On Monday some folks walked the mile to the main road to get picked up for work. Schools are closed again today, Tuesday. My school will be open tomorrow I'm sure.

All of this and we only got 18 inches of snow...not the 30 inches people in Northern Virginia got!

The Jersey Shore flooding is the worst. I don't think folks anticipated it. First Sandy and now this...they can't catch a break.

99% of the roads were passable yesterday, but in many cases there was no longer a shoulder. And it was a little difficult to turn into or get out of parking lot entrances to businesses. Huge snow piles hindering the views. It's in the low 40s today, so hopefully melting will occur.

Those exposed wooden walls in the Jersey Shore photos are usually deeply covered with sand. And the concrete platform is normally resting on top to the dunes. I think I read that there used to be a Coast Guard observation tower on that platform many years ago. That part of the Shore (Holgate) is very vulnerable.

Well we are still stuck at home. Plows are doing main roads first. So we started digging the cars/driveway out yesterday. Some cars are getting out of the neighborhood so I think later today we will finally get out. DD's high school is still closed and my sons first day back at college tom. is postponed at least a until Thursday but they said it might still get postponed further. Actually starting to run out of food so we hope the grocery stores have been getting deliveries. They are calling for rain later today/tonight and already they are warning people that means icy roads in the morning. DH is hoping to be able to get to work tomorrow.

South Jersey has been getting beat up lately. I've always said when I retire I want to buy a house at the shore, always thought it would be fun.

The snow plows came through on Sat night but didn't do a great job. 5 came through the neighborhood this morning and now I have to shovel out the end of the driveway again.

South jersey got hit hard this weekend but there are other parts of NJ that also got hit and will get hit as the snow melts from 30 inches.

May I ask why all the wiper blades on the cars are up? I'm from Arizona and don't deal with snow much.

I see someone already answered, but yes, some people put their wiper blades up to keep them from freezing to the windshield.

My street still has not been plowed yet. People dug out their cars and tried to shovel the street, but there's really no more places to put the snow. The city promised to get all the side streets done by today. We'll see what happens.

Parking is a hassle in this neighborhood even in normal times. My partner and I pay to park our cars in a multi-level garage 1 1/2 blocks away. Snow still got in from the open sides of the building, but it was easy to get the cars out.

Hey Mister, there is a stop sign, you just can't see it with the huge pile of snow. Really, stop honking at me when I slowly turn, as with the huge pile of snow on the corner, I can't see what's on the other street I'm turning on. Yes, hog, don't bully your way into my lane because your lane just stopped as the plow only let parts of the 2 lane road clear.

At least the blizzard was only one day, but the narrow streets and piles on each side of the road has made travel so much fun. Thankfully, even though we freeze all that is wet each night, each day is above freezing this week, so some melting. However, it will take at least a month or so before even some of the piles of snow disappear.

Back to normal otherwise though.

It's been a doozy so far for sure!
Here in South Jersey (Cumberland County, almost a straight shot across from Dover, DE), they're still going with 12-16" snow totals by tonight, but the winds are horrendous, so it'll be hard to measure.
Probably jinx myself here, but I'm surprised we still have power, as we tend to lose it quite a lot. The generator's on full standby, and I'm off work til Monday so we'll be fine, and hoping so for the rest of you all

....we got more than 2 feet of snow....

Our esteemed guvna is often a horse's rear end, but I have to agree with him on this. Build or buy 2 feet above sea level, and of course you're going to get flooded at times. Don't expect others to pay to mop us the mess.

In Loudoun County, Virginia, supposedly the bullseye for the storm. We got 30+. A friend of ours in Ashburn said she had 36! The blizzard winds drifted it around, so we has varying measurements throughout the yard. Took 3 days to dig the cars out, DH went back to work on Tuesday. First mail delivered today, so except for the schools being closed, we are almost back to normal. Dump trucks going by with lots of snow in them to be dumped somewhere.

DS is at college in southern VA. They only got 18". He is in good shape -someone else shovels the walks for the students and the main dining halls are right next door for him.
