Just wondering how the month of September was for Disney. I've gone during the months of Aug and Oct, but never Sept...thought I'd give it a try this year......any comments would be great.

hi, we were there last september and it was pretty hot and rained everyday for an hour or so.
misty

... in 2002 and LOVED it! The rates were low, the crowds completely non-existent (even better than Jan./Feb.) and the weather wasn't as uncomfortable as I'd expected. It was in the high 80s-low 90s and only rained a tiny bit one afternoon. It was humid, but not as bad as I had anticipated.

I highly recommend Sept. and would go again at that time of the year without hesitation.

Have a great trip,
Sarah

Moving to other Planning Board so this gets more attention...

:)

Plenty darned warm, but no crowd hassles:D

We did this for the first time this past year. Had lots of heat (seemed hotter than july 4th week), lots or rain (could have sworn the ARK pased by at the AK).

Other than that it was GREAT!!!

HOT,HOT,HOT and HUMID!!!!! The rates were great last year and not very crowded.I'm from the south and it was humid to me.We were there sept 15-22.I just didn't expect the humidity to be that much different from NC. April

We have done 3 recent September trips. The weather can go either way but it is usually on the warm side (we did late Sept for DD bday). One year in the 80s and great, another in the high 90s and unbearable, the other a mix of the two. Crowds are wonderfully low. It is hurricane season so it does rain a bit more. Overall pretty good but DD is in school now and it is just too early in the school year to pull her out. I think it can go either way, if you can stand the chance of heat and rain it is certainly worth the low crowds....

I was at WDW briefly in the middle of last September. It was kind of a mixed bag. The crowds - or, rather, lack of them - were wonderful. However it was hot and terribly humid!

I love September!! 2001 was very, very hot. Last year was hot, but during our entire week we had maybe 2 hours of rain! By about 2:00, though, we needed to head back to our hotel for a swim.

It is a terrific time because there are low crowds. Last year we went to the new princess breakfast in EPCOT, finished around 11:00 and walked around the world showcase with maybe a handful of other folks. In Germany, the CM's played toys with my kids for at least an hour and hardly anyone else came in! Even in MK, we hardly had a wait. Longest time was ....DUMBO... about 10 minutes, but we did Buzz 5 times straight w/o any wait. You kinda get spoiled. :)

Two drawbacks of September, though, are shorter hours and less fireworks/parades at MK...usually only on Saturday, so plan accordingly.

My kids will be starting kindergarten this year, so Sept will be difficult in the future, but I wouldn't hesitate to go again at that time.. This year we're doing early June which I am sure is more crowded.

We went last year (2002) 9/28-10/4 - right in between the two hurricanes that hit LA (we drove and this was an issue). Weather was pleasant. It was a little on the warm side- mid to high 80's - but not too hot to enjoy ourselves. Crowds were the lowest of all the times we've been. Longest wait was about 30 minutes on Test Track, but I believe that included a "breakdown". The little children's rides were anywhere from walk-on's to maybe 15 minutes. Restaurant waits seemed short for the few times we ate in the parks. Evenings were very pleasant. We had rain once that I remember, but it lasted for the duration that we were in The Land. (Caution: If you have a stroller and you're there during rainy season...always park it in shade or under a tree!)

I highly suggest this time of year because it's after the summer peak time and Labor Day, but before Food and Wine Tasting event and the Halloween event and makes for light attendance. (Incidentally, value season ends about the first week of October and if you book before it ends, the value rate carries over your entire stay.) As far as park touring, even though hours are shorter, with good planning you can still catch just about all the attractions you want to experience.

My kids will be starting kindergarten this year, so Sept will be difficult in the future, but I wouldn't hesitate to go again at that time.. This year we're doing early June which I am sure is more crowded.

We took the kids out of school - 1st and 3rd grade - and will never do this again. The headache of trying to complete their missed homework during vacation was so overwhelming. Next year we're planning right after school is out in early June. I'm not looking forward to the crowds as we were really spoiled this last fall visit!

We went Sept. 01 two weeks after 9/11 so of course the crowds were non-existent. Weather was overcast, not overly hot, a little misty. Our friends went this year, end of Sept. and said it was very hot, but again no crowds. I think it's a great time to go if you love to avoid the lines as we do.

We went Sept 3-9, 2001. It was hot, not crowded, and RAINED FOR HOURS everyday. It would begin raining about 1pm and not let up until 8pm. That was kind of a bummer, but the lack of crowds sure was great.

my FI and I figured this much and are FULLY looking forward to our September 21 - October 2 honeymoon.

We usually go in Dec, nice to go someplace warm during these New England winters, so going in the 'summer' time will be much different for us. I personally don't mind the heat...and you get plent of breaks from it, as most indoor attractions have AC...

Glad to hear that this is a great time to go! I'm so looking forward to it!

My DH and I honeymooned in Sept. 2002 and we found the weather to be warm and very humid. I believe it rained briefly almost everyday we were there. It was not crowded at all, so it was nice in that respect.
We would hit the parks early, then return to the WL for an afternoon nap to refresh ourselves before going back out at night.

I agree with all.

Sept 19-30 2002, very warm (90's) and humid, NO LINES. There was rain but because of the lack of crowds, you didn't feel like you were missing much if you returned to your room.

My partner and I were also at WDW during the last week of September 2002. We experienced the rain from Isidore and the heat and humidity that made us both thankful for every bottle of $2.50 water and Powerade we bought. lol I liked the low crowds, but I would liked to have not been forced into changing clothes every few hours due to the icky sweat. Mickey

Personally, I will never plan a vacation in FL again when it's going to be that hot and that wet.

Hi -
I've visited twice in September - both times we left the Saturday before Labor Day and stayed for 9 days. I found it to be pretty hot and it did rain probably 3 or 4 days, but usually only for an hour or so. The crowds were light, but I went last year January 12-19th and the crowds were probably half of what I experienced in September. The only down side to January is iffy weather. Last year, we were lucky, it was in the 70's each day and the day we left it was 80. I'm leaving again in one week (yeah!) and am a little concerned about the temperature forecast. I won't worry too much, because right now it's about 5 degrees and snowing here on Long Island and the highs are only going to be in the 20's all week here. So 60's will feel like summertime!

We were there 9-19-02 to 9-28-02. It was hot and HUMID. agh it was July in VA at it's worst every day. The crowds were nonexistent. We missed out on most of the rain though (pure luck :D ). I'd go again in Sept but it did make me vow never to go to WDW in the heart of the summer.
