Howard Stern, whom I don't listen to, is entitled to his opinion and is equally entitled to state his opinion. Just because his opinion is different then other people's doesn't make it wrong. Opinions are neither right nor wrong, they only differ.

This actress is fat. It would be like calling me white, it is factually true and therefore just fine. If you are confident in your own skin and create your own self image, as everyone should, you don't care what people call you. At that point it doesn't matter if it is fact or opinion. I stopped caring what people called me in about 3rd grade.

There is also nothing wrong with noticing or even stating that someone is fat, skinny, tall, short, bald, black, white, redheaded, or anything else. People are what they are. If I am talking to someone bald I know they are bald. It doesn't mean I judge them for it. I have noticed that water is wet and the sun is both bright and hot but I am not judging it. People who claim not to notice what someone is are either delusional or lying to themselves.

I think that the only thing that could be prejudiced was mentioning her race. She is black, she is a large woman. It's just a fact. Was it nice to say? No. Was it prejudiced? Maybe. But it doesn't take away the fact that it's true.

Is it ok to call someone a beautiful skinny white woman? How about a handsome black man? The word fat is not an insult, its an adjective as is the word black. Its not a prejudice but a description.

I was not sure in what manner the roll eye smiley was meant, so I asked for clarification. I did not insult you, I asked for clarification. I guess it hit a button of yours for you to become defensive and I am sorry if I did.

Ugly is subjective, but weight too can be subjective. We live in a society where a size 0 is considered normal and anything above makes one a fat chick. That is no more healthy than being overweight or obese. Also, one can be thin and be unhealthy and be fat and be healthy. Really hardly nothing is black or white that I can think of.

I am sure this young woman knows she has weight issues and does not need to be constantly reminded of it, especially by someone like Howard Stern that needs to take care of his own backyard before he talks about anyone elses.

Saying someone is large is no different than saying someone is a brunette or tall. If you're chastising or belittling someone for being large, then yes, that's not cool. But as a descriptor, there's nothing mean about it.

And by being sexually exploited it leads to the disrespect and subjugation that woman deal with daily, which can and does lead to domestic violence and rape.

To me, by saying women are at fault for sexual exploitation, is the stepping stone to saying that a woman deserved rape because she wore a bikini, was a stipper or a prostitute or whatever other reason a person wants to make to make it okay to exploit and abuse women. No means no and a woman is not at fault for sexual exploitation for shaking her tatas. Shaking tatas does not mean, "Yoo Whooo! Anybody want to come and exploit me?" I don't think so.

I have no words... for Stern, for Quivers, and for half the people posting on this thread. Totally disgusting. The good news is that I'm sure the other half of us are more insulted than she was. I don't think GS gives a fig what Howard Stern thinks. His fake concern is touching.

I did wonder (not sure if anyone noticed this) but I noted where she was sitting at the Oscars. She was sitting all the way to the right of the stage allllll the way in a corner. I've never seen an nominee sitting in a spot like that. Made me wonder if it had to do with her weight.

There was an article in EW a couple weeks ago about ways they were trying to shorten the show and one of the producers noted that one of the major time-wasters was the walk to the stage. The purposely sat the majority of the nominees closer to the stage. In doing so, they utilized more of the outer areas than normal.

Seriously?! So, now people are no longer allowed to label others as 'fat' or 'overweight' because that automatically means we're poking fun? Um.. okay then.

I was listening to Rosie ODonnell's show on Sirius, and she was defending Howard for what he said about Gabie. (I thought that was pretty funny coming from a woman who's not exactly thin herself!) She did say that Gabie was seated where she was at the Oscars because a special chair had been installed that would accomodate a woman of her size comfortably. She also said that Howard was always the "thin, geeky kid in high school" who's a "health freak now", so probably doesn't begin to understand what it's like to be obese.

While I would hope that she would make healthy choices, I would hate to see her join the "club" of young actresses like Lindsay Lohan and Brittany Snow (and soooo many others) who actually ruin their acting careers by picking up evil habits in order to stay thin. She's not a dumb girl--she knows she's not a size 0, and if she chooses to change, I'm sure she has access to resources to do so. MYOB to the rest of the world who feels free to judge IMHO!

Use to be people had self control and kept hurtful opinions to themselves, now people just don't care. But its a radio entertainment/talk show based on his opinions. Thats what it is about. He and the rest of them, get together and talk about whats going on, what they see, how they see it and their opinion. You listen if you want, you dont if you dont. PLUS, you have to PAY to hear him.

I guess I just dont give that much importance to other people's opinions or what they think of me. I dont give words that much power, especially when its just an opinion.

Thats what this site is about , in a way too. Lots of threads with people speaking on their opinions. If you take away his right and others, you will take away the right to heck, post on this board and state yours. Believe me, Ive seen more judging on this board ,in many threads, than in most places.

It's because that is what he does. If someone is so obnoxiously rude about others, then I think it's fine to point out how ugly and obnoxious they are. I try to see the good in everyone, but when someone is just so outspoken and in such a rude way, they get what's coming to them.
