I know Howard Stern is known for his shocking comments, but what he said about this woman was truely uncalled for. Have you guys heard about this?

Shock jock Howard Stern recently went on a grand tirade against Gabourey Sidibe for apparently no reason. Howard Stern and his black co-host Robin Quivers called Gabourey the most enormous, fat black chick he's ever seen:
There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. You feel bad because everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” Stern said. “She really should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”
“‘Blind Side 2,’” Stern suggested. “She could be the football player, take out the whole front line.”
“It’s so sad you want to say to her, listen honey, you got a little money in the bank, go get yourself thin. You’re gonna die. And now she’s famous and she’ll never get another acting job”
Stern, on the air with his co-host Robin Quivers, also played the speech given by Oprah Winfrey to Sidibe at the Oscars on the program. The hosts said Oprah was lying to her by saying she’s going to have a career in Hollywood.”Come on, be honest with the girl,” Stern said. “Look in that room. Who else do you look like? Those are the people that work all the time,” Quivers agreed.

SMH! Shock jocks like Howard Stern would do anything for money. Check out the video of Howard Stern going in on Gabourey Sidibe in the related videos section below.

You're giving him the exact reaction he is looking for by giving him more publicity.

I saw her interviewed last night and she has had a series or something picked up so haha Howard.

But I do agree that she is going to have to change her body image a little. She can still be plus size but Jennifer Hudson slimmed down and Gabby will, too. You have to remember she is still very young and she didn't plan this amazing career opportunity - it dropped in her lap. So what she does in the future will be determined by the warm, fuzzy way we all feel about her now but also what she does in terms of her weight and appearance to keep herself marketable.

But I am so glad she had this ride - she's funny and charming and I am glad she got to do all of this!!

I think Howard Stern is a jerk, but I will honestly admit to having the same thought process. This delightful actress is certainly out of the "norm" for Hollywood and she may have trouble sustaining a successful movie career. I couldn't help thinking she would be typecast, like Nikki Blonski, and quickly be forgotten after the hype of the movie and Oscars die down.

I hope that Gabourey has a long and successful career in Hollywood. I also hope that she lives a long and HEALTHY life.

Well...plus size and extremely plus size women do work in Hollywood. At times it can be more challenging--but with acting chops and a savvy agent, she should have no trouble making it a career.

Howard Stern is ignorant and I doubt his comments had anything to do with actual concern. He's a pot stirrer and that is why he said what he said.

She is so young, I do hope she gets healthy. :guilty:

That said, Howard Stern is a big fat *******. And Robin should be ashamed! She's been *really* fat a few times.

I just read Gabby has been offered a role in a new series on Showtime (?) starring Laura Linney. I guess Stern was wrong.:thumbsup2

I could care how much she weighs. She is very talented actress and that is hard to come by in Hollywood.

I totally see Howard saying this, I'm really shocked that Robin went along with it.:confused3

Of course his comments are extreme, but the girl looks mega-unhealthy and kind of gross. Sorry, but she need to lose a lot of weight unless she wants to be type-cast as the morbidly obese, sensitive girl in a bunch of crappy Tyler Perry movies for the rest of her acting career.

Not to defend Howard Stern, but honestly, much of what he says is what a lot of other people are thinking. The difference is that he's not exactly known for his grace and tact and maturity.

She for sure does not fit the typical Hollywood mold, which means there would not be as many opportunities for her.

I admire her confidence and talent.

I can 100% say that I'm never thinking what Howard Stern is thinking. I'm prettty glad about that as well

ditto.

This isn't the worse thing he has ever said. He is rude and crude and that is why people tune into him.

While I have to say that I think Howard should keep his mouth shut and not be so hateful, I will admit to thinking about that while watching the Oscars. I was looking at all the beautiful thin people who the press crucifies if they gain 10 lbs(Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt) and saying to myself 'What other role will this girl ever get?" Now that I'm hearing she got a series picked up, good for her she seems very sweet and funny.

I did wonder (not sure if anyone noticed this) but I noted where she was sitting at the Oscars. She was sitting all the way to the right of the stage allllll the way in a corner. I've never seen an nominee sitting in a spot like that. Made me wonder if it had to do with her weight.

Howard is who he is.. he says what he's thinking. You have to pay to hear him. If you don't like it, don't pay it. Don't open the thread, ya know?

Truly, though, most of the times Im more disgusted with hypocritical politicians than a celebrity with a silly radio show who , at least, shows no pretense.

Here is a link to the story of the role the young actress in question just landed:

http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7018059483

It is a new comedy series on Showtime about a housewife with terminal cancer. Gabourey Sidibe plays a smart student in said woman's classroom.

I'm glad that Gabourey got a new acting job to pay the bills. However, during the Oscar telecast I was rather appalled at how Opray made it sound like Gabourey was to be the next Meryl Streep. Then again, who knows?

I think it had to do with people's Hollywood connections and where they were able to get a seat.

As for Howard Stern, he has a shameful career. There's nothing you can really say about him that hasn't been said already.
