Howard Stern's comments about "Precious" star Gabourey Sidibe

Of course his comments are extreme, but the girl looks mega-unhealthy andkind of gross. Sorry, but she need to lose a lot of weight unless she wants to be type-cast as the morbidly obese, sensitive girl in a bunch of crappy Tyler Perry movies for the rest of her acting career.

WHAT?? Who says something like that? :sad2:

She may be overweight, but she can change that. Ugly on the inside lasts forever. Hope Howard and the rest of the judgmental folks of the world keep that in mind.

So are you saying you've never sat in an airplane seat, on a long flight, with an obese person? Been upset because you couldnt sit comfortably?

You've never ever ever thought anything judgemental when you see an obese person eating chocolate covered fried dough at a carnival?

Obese people aren't though of differently when at a job interview? having the same experience , likability and knowledge than a thin person?

Please, people judge and are judgemental all the time. Just because they don't say it in public or on the radio, doesn't make it any less judgemental.

I know, I was 135lbs overweight at one time. Let's not pretend that people other than Howard Stern are saying these things and the anti-christ. He is just one of many.

Here is a link to the story of the role the young actress in question just landed:

http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7018059483

It is a new comedy series on Showtime about a housewife with terminal cancer. Gabourey Sidibe plays a smart student in said woman's classroom.

I'm glad that Gabourey got a new acting job to pay the bills. However, during the Oscar telecast I was rather appalled at how Opray made it sound like Gabourey was to be the next Meryl Streep. Then again, who knows?

I'm glad that her role isn't specifically focusing on her weight, but I think Stern has a point. Unless she loses weight, her roles will be very limited and so will her career. I also like how the article described her as curvy, even though I think that applies more to JLo, Mariah or Kim Kardashian. Gabourey knows she's overweight, and she doesn't need to be reminded by the likes of Stern or anyone else in the media because it shouldn't matter. Its very sad that it does, though.

I know Howard Stern is known for his shocking comments, but what he said about this woman was truely uncalled for. Have you guys heard about this?

Shock jock Howard Stern recently went on a grand tirade against Gabourey Sidibe for apparently no reason. Howard Stern and his black co-host Robin Quivers called Gabourey the most enormous, fat black chick he's ever seen:
There’s the most enormous, fat black chick I’ve ever seen. She is enormous. You feel bad because everyone’s pretending she’s a part of show business and she’s never going to be in another movie,” Stern said. “She really should have gotten the Best Actress award because she’s never going to have another shot. What movie is she gonna be in?”
“‘Blind Side 2,’” Stern suggested. “She could be the football player, take out the whole front line.”
“It’s so sad you want to say to her, listen honey, you got a little money in the bank, go get yourself thin. You’re gonna die. And now she’s famous and she’ll never get another acting job”
Stern, on the air with his co-host Robin Quivers, also played the speech given by Oprah Winfrey to Sidibe at the Oscars on the program. The hosts said Oprah was lying to her by saying she’s going to have a career in Hollywood.”Come on, be honest with the girl,” Stern said. “Look in that room. Who else do you look like? Those are the people that work all the time,” Quivers agreed.

SMH! Shock jocks like Howard Stern would do anything for money. Check out the video of Howard Stern going in on Gabourey Sidibe in the related videos section below.

If that bothers you, you should stay off the NFL Mock Draft discussion boards. There's a running joke on a couple of them that have her penned as a 1st round prospect at DT....

In the end, those kinds of jokes say more about the teller than the target.

So are you saying you've never sat in an airplane seat, on a long flight, with an obese person? Been upset because you couldnt sit comfortably? NEVER

You've never ever ever thought anything judgemental when you see an obese person eating chocolate covered fried dough at a carnival? NOPE

Obese people aren't though of differently when at a job interview? Not in HR, so I couldn't say having the same experience , likability and knowledge than a thin person?

However, thinking "maybe they shouldn't eat that donut" and "that fat person looks gross" seem a bit different to me.

:thumbsup2 Obesity is one of the last socially 'acceptable' forms of discrimination based on appearance.

My hubby and I were just arguing about him last night. I can't stand him, and I said because he's a sexist pig that objectifies women, along with a list of other things. here's just another reason. And they want this man to host american idol? If he does, I will stop watching it.

So if people are normally judgemental, that makes it A-ok?

Hey, I just LOATHE Howard Stern.
There are just no words to describe everything that is just despicable about him.

However, it is almost painful to say that, in this case, I agree with him.

Gabby is morbidly obese!!!!
That's right...
She is morbidly obese.
Sometimes the truth is painful.
I truly feel for her. :sad1:

I think that was just a rumor without any truth to it.

Howard Stern has a face for radio. I think he is ugly from the inside out and I feel really sorry for his daughters.
These are my opinions only.

His comment was insensitive, hurtful and without legitimate purpose. Everything he says or does, is for ratings. A bigger piece of the market. Like the poor girl (who is a heck of an actress) hasn't had enough of that throughout her lifetime. Shameful. And disgusting. I hope she proves him wrong.

I can 100% say that I'm never thinking what Howard Stern is thinking. I'm prettty glad about that as well

Ditto to that!:thumbsup2 That piece of trash and I will share an opinion when pigs fly!

Who cares what he thinks? Like he's some sort of prize himself.... *gags*

Jeez, it's a good thing she has someone like that Stern moron to tell her that she's overweight... I can't imagine she could've figured it out on her own. Perhaps we should point her in the direction of this thread in case she's looking for a second opinion of that. :sad2:

It doesn't matter if she's fat, skeletal, ugly, green, or purple. There's no reason for idiots to go around pointing out the obvious, whether they're some ridiculous clown of a "shock jock" or just random people who think that it's okay to shout other's shortcomings from the rooftops because they think they're somehow "helping". :headache: :sad2: And, I don't care if the person in question is famous or not, it's still a PERSON, just like you and me. I know, surprising, eh?

I'm disgusted. :crazy2:

I couldn't agree more, happygirl.

So if people are normally judgemental, that makes it A-ok?

No, of course not. It just means that Ive never understood the whole "Howard Stern is the anti-christ" thing. I find him no different than a lot of folks.

What he said is said everyday. Why is he so much worse? Thats all. At least with him you know what you get, and you don't have to listen. So many people that attack him are just as bad, if not worse. I find a lot of hypocrisy when going after people like Stern and fake self-righteous indignation

But, hey, thats JMO! :)
