Howard Stern-Grrr-Someone get ride of the slimeball on tv.

I don't think you should feel that way at all. You didn't suggest the government should step in and remove the show from TV. I happen to agree with you that the show is gross and I wish it would go away. I also wish FX wouldn't show Dharma and Greg because it's stupid. Not liking something on TV doesn't make you an instant advocate of censorship, and you shouldn't be made to feel like that's what you were saying.

Wanting something removed is censorship.

Commercial TV works in wonderful ways. If people don't watch... poof.

Ya think. ;)

The guy may be "slime" but at least he doesn't call for people to be assasinated or preach hate.

I choose not to listen to them either ;)

First, I am a pretty conservative person, but I LOVE Howard Stern. Second, he did not lose his radio contract, he decided not the renew it and go to Sirius instead. E! is showing old shows. He has lots of new content ON DEMAND, which is PPV.

It is a parent's responsibility to know what his or her child(ren) are watching. No need to take something off the air because a child MIGHT see it.

We have our Sirius and are looking forward to joining Howard on the other side on January 9!!!
ITA!!!

I am really tired of parents thinking that tv and radio content should be regulated by the gov't.
How about taking some parental responsiblity and USE the V-chip and other blocking devices. How about not having cable?
How about actually having a conversation with your child when they do hear/see something that is not for their age?

Tell that to the guy in Cleveland who sabatoged Stern's live appearance here in 1994. Stern wanted that guy dead. He can dish it out, but he most certainly can't take it.

I will admit that he is extremely popular and that he has every constitutional right to say and do what makes him popular. And I am opposed to censorship in the broadest sense and that I can pick and choose what programs I view. And I am one of the few (???) who choose to not listen to or view his program.

Maybe you should have changed the channel.

:rotfl: I know, I was really reaching out on a limb there with that observation. :teeth:

Actually if people would listen past Howard's "sex" talk, one will find he is a pretty conservative person on some issues. Other issues he leans Libertarian.

See if you can block the channel. Your provider might have such a feature.

I don't like Stern either but I support other people's right to watch him. Just because I think he's lower than something stuck to the bottom of my shoes doesn't mean that I want him to be yanked or censored.

I cannot stand Howard Stern. (He reminds me of a junior high school boy. :rotfl: )
Personally,I wish he would just go away, but I also believe in your right to watch him if you so desire to.

I can't stand howard stern...he is like a perverted 13 year old boy that has never grown up....its actually really sad, he is pathetic. I would never listen to any station that had him on it and thats just another reason I will get XM instead of Sirius...I won't support anything that has him on it.

I never posted this before because I don't want to sound like a prude, but I really really hated that Howard was on radio. I actually have no problem with him being on tv because you can control that. But with radio --- morning radio no less -- it's not easy to control what your kids are listening to.

I have a REAL problem with my teen/preteen sons listening to him. I "get" his humor; I "get" the shock factor. But it just doesn't translate the same way to a young boy.

Once again his show had to be edited or changed based on the law.

As long as somebody is following the rules, the rest falls on the parent. If your children continue to listen to what you have told them not to, that is your problem.

There are hundreds of people doing a lot more damage everyday IMO. People who preach hate and are simply the "Howard Stern" of politics.

I used the aforementioned channel-blocking feature to block all that "Howard Stern of politics" stuff on Fox News off my television.

I wonder how many of you who are anti-Howard have actually listened to one whole show??!!??!! I am not into some of the sexual things he talks about, at that point I usually change the channel for a bit, but he covers many other topics that I find highly entertaining and, gasp, he is even sometimes, informative.

I've listened to Stern, about 15 years ago. (My last girlfriend, before I met my wife, was a big fan). I didn't feel that his signal-to-noise ratio was worth my time.

I had the unfortunate experience of having to listen to a show when I was in someones car that thought he was great...what a long painful car ride that was! Before that I listened when I was an early teen and had the same maturity level as he still does!

???

I change the channel for large chunks at a time. Personally I'm not into his whole "whack pack" stuff, so when he would have on those strange people I would find something else.

yes Ive listened to him to a whole show even here and there.

I just dont understand the appeal but thats me, I support your right to listen to him :)

ITA! The fact that he gets paid big money for what he does makes me sick. He has no respect for women at all! And these women that go on his show, what are they thinking? He could care less about them, all he wants is for them to sit on his lap so he can do his "thing". What a SCUM!

From what I gather (my old girlfriend and I still talk frequently, and she seems to feel compelled to keep me up-to-date about Stern  ), the "not respecting women" stuff is all an act for the audience, and he doesn't make too much of an effort to hide that it is an act.
