How young was your baby on its first Disney trip?

We have a trip planned for next June. We have alittle one due the first wek of May, if the bundle arrives on time or near he/she will be 7 weeks old? Am I nuts? Our other 2 children will be 15 and 12, they are really looking forward to this trip and I really do not want to cancel it.

We will also be going to VB for a week following Disney but the beach will be no problem we have a 2 bedoom booked so everyone has space and the baby can sleep without being disturbed.

I have no problem staying in the room alot and my DH ismore than willing to share that. So ahve you done this and how was it?

my son's first trip to disney he was barely 8 weeks. IT was fantastic! I know lots of people thought we were nuts but the trip was planned....then came baby, late! ......it was such an easy trip.
We went in March. It was chilly so we had to bring a bunting suit. Our DD was 21/2 so she had a fantastic time. I nursed so didnt' have to worry about food. They have wonderful baby stations. We brought a double stroller and a front carring thing and just had a blast!
Does he remember anything...no of course not....Did my son get anything out of it? who knows and who cares! We did and I loved the character interaction with him. Susie mouse was so darling she wanted to hold him so she sat down on the ground! We placed him in her lap!
I say go for it.
But also talk to your doctor and make sure. Plus do take in the fact you could be late and how that will effect your trip. Both of my kids were late...

My kids were 11, 9, 3, and 1 1/2 years old on our first trip. My SIL had a 7 week old on her family's first trip. The trip was planned and the kids told before she realized she was pregnant. They couldn't push the trip back a few months because her DH was a teacher and she didn't want to put it off for a year because her DH wasn't too thrilled about a WDW trip in the first place. She was afraid if they didn't go as scheduled the trip might never take place, so 7 weeks after a C-section they went, and had a wonderful time.

My DD was born the end of April (due the beginning of May like you) We wanted to go back since she was born, but are putting off the trip until Dec. I've been in the summer, and I've been several times in sept. and there was just no way I could bring her into that heat and sun, summer or early fall. I know I sweat buckets when there, I couldn't imagine what that heat would do to her.

My oldest DD was 7 and my 2nd DD was 9 months old on one of our trips. We had a blast!! (Although, I'm not so sure the little boy that was sitting on the curb in front of us at the Main Street Parade had a lot of fun after my 9 month old threw up all over him) Poor little thing, covered in baby vomit and crying to beat the band!
I felt so bad I had my DH go buy him a new MM outfit. (If you are out there and are old enough to be able to read this I still am truly sorry!)
Anyway, we had so much fun we are going again in March with our kids who are now 14, 8, and my new DS will be 9 months. (Mental note to self - do NOT, under any circumstances, feed the baby and then stand behind/over someone sitting on the curb waiting for the parade, lol)
Also, I heard the same comments from people, "why even bother taking them when they're so young. They won't remember anything." Well, just like the commercial..........

We took my baby when he was 3 months old and it wasn't easy. The problems we had were that he wanted held the entire time we were there, he didn't like the noises of the parade or any shows (and we weren't up close) and we had a difficult time gauging if he was crying because he was hungry or upset. We still had a good time, but it would've been easier if we had waited until he was a little bit older. The baby stations are nice, but they aren't very conveniently located. Oh, and I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but my ds was a pacifier baby and we lost both pacifiers at MK and when I went to Main Street to try to find one to buy I was told by the CM's I asked that they didn't sell any and we never did find one, we had to leave to buy one. I would also be concerned about them getting sick being around that many people at such a young age before their immune system is developed.

My son was 12 months on his first trip and my daughter was 5 months when she had her first trip to WDW.

We're taking our baby when he will be just under 3 months old.

He's pretty good at adapting to new situations, and by then he will be even better, so we're looking forward to it. We go pretty much every year, so it won't be his last trip, but it will always be his first trip.

I am planning to take it easy and split off from the group as required. I think if the baby is not high needs and you are prepared to take it easy when required, bringing a young baby is not a problem. Perhaps I will have a different view when we get back!

I have taken both my kids at 9 months old. It was great! I would do it again! DD is now 6yo and is on her 7th trip! DS is 19mo and this will be his 2nd trip. I have to say it was easy with an infant rather than a toddler! You just have to have a plan, and be prepared!! I had extra pacifiers, with the holders!(I was not about to be stuck without one!!) I had my own full size stroller, a baby bjorn carrier for lines and attractions. We stayed at the BWV so we had a micro and fridge. That really helped. What was most important was we went by our babies needs, but our kids always fell asleep in the stroller with no problems. Also, we are a loud family and our kids didn't flinch with any loud noises!

So, to answer your questions, no you are not crazy!! You also have 2 older kids and DH who can help with your baby. You also have a week at the beach to recoop!!LOL Just ask your Dr. about sunscreen for the baby. Keep the baby out of the sun as much as possible and keep him/her hydrated. Congrats on the new baby coming!!!!

I also wanted to add we took our DS to Hershey Park when he was 2mo for a weekend. He did great! The Baby Bjorn was a lifesaver!!!

We are heading in less than 2 weeks with a 3 yr old DD and a 10 week old DS. We have had the same comments, "you are crazy bringing this child.", but we are not worried. He does great in our stroller and Baby Bjorn. We took our DD when she was 2 and she loved it SO much, we bought into the Disney Vacation Club. So, now we are taking her back and introducing her little brother to Disney. She is so excited to show him all of her favorite places.

I think you will be just fine. The only things to remember are immune system and the possibility of having a colicky baby. Otherwise, GO FOR IT!!!!

I'm hoping by being in a 2 bedroom at the BWV's it won't be a bother to stay in the room a little more than I usually do. I'm also hoping illness will not be a big issue since it is a June trip-if it were flu season I would re-evaluate. I also breast feed so this helps boost abby's immune system. And my DH really doesn't care for alot of touring on summer trips. We go to the parks in the AM until 11 or so and back in late in the evening the rest of the trip we lounge about. With the boys 13 and 15 on the next trip we will let them with cell phone in hand and a call schedule tour some alone.

Of course everyone thought i was crazy, who cares. ddbaby was 8 weeks, other dd was almost 3. dh had a bball team in the playoffs and we got a free trip......in july: the only miserable part.
Would i do it again, certainly. grandparents went too, everyone took turns with the front carrier. I nursed sitting on every restroom floor of mk!!! baby slept through most rides, this is what confused so many. they didn't realize the type of rides that even an 8 week old could do. pace yourself, take lots of breaks, enjoy!
on the other hand, when the same dd was 17 mos., not so fun. the character interactions were memorable, but my fast paced park strategies wore her out! I don't think i'd go again with a toddler this age.
she was a dream at 3, my absolute fave age for the 'real' 1st wdw trip. seeing wdw through both my dd's eyes at this age was amazing..
this year they are 4 and 7, our 1st cruise, counting down
enjoy with the baby! take advantage of the baby care centers, I was never around one and it was sooo crowded in july...

With my first DD I would not have been ready at that time, I barely had the confidence to handle life at home, but this is not your first time. With DD2 we went when she was 3 1/2 weeks old. The pediatrician knew about it and didn't object, she said stay hydrated, feed on demand and enjoy the nice scenery.

I nursed almost exclusively, but had bottles and powder on hand just in case. The rocking chairs in the baby centers were great, and our older DD (she was 2) loved getting to play with the toys and watch TV while we took a break. I would have been lost without the front carrier though, she didn't like being in her car seat or stroller at all. She had acid reflux and the position was horrible for her stomach. The carrier was perfect though.

We stayed at the Dolphin and spent most of our time in EPCOT and MGM because we could walk or boat there. We did make it to MK though. And the best part (and the reason we went) was because my parents and aunt/uncle were there and we got to see them and they got to see our newest angel.

It couldn't have been too bad - DS is to be induced the week between Christmas and New Years and we have reservations for March (Spring Break) to go again. He'll be 8-10 weeks old!

We took dd3 for her second time when her sister was 6 weeks old. It was September and we got a lot of mean looks and comments. But, she was fine. She slept, literally, the whole time. Be sure to use the baby stations, they are great! I breastfed so it was very easy to nurse her there in the special rooms or pretty much anywhere on property. We kept her in the shade, used a battery operated fan, and had a blast! It was a little hard having to find shade in some spots but Animal Kingdom was the only one we really had trouble with.

My son was one on his first trip and my daughter was 3 months. Both trips were great! My son has been back 2 more times since his first trip, and he really loves Disney. (We're thinking it's genetic!) My daughter enjoyed the colors and the music (from what I could tell) and she was quite content in the Baby Bjorn carrier or lying down in the stroller. I would not hesitate to take such a young baby again.

And speaking of a young baby.....she's crying. Gotta go!
