Hi everyone, we're thinking about a trip in December of this year. DD will be 3 and D? will be 6 months. I can't remember if DD was sitting up in the stroller by this time? Can someone refresh my memory? I used a sling a lot so that may have something to do with it. Anyway...Thanks for the help. pirate:

Your d? may or may not be able to "sit up", but if you have a stroller that reclines, they should be able to sit up with the support of the stroller. Then when they are tired, you can just recline it back down and at that age they should fall asleep quite easily as you are strolling along in the parks! :)

We very rarely used a stroller for my daughter before she was 6 months old and even after that not too often cause we Bjorned her too. She could sit up at that age, but simply didn't enjoy strollers that much so we just didn't use them.

We went to WDW with our DD who was 4 1/2 months old in October. She couldn't sit up on her own at all yet, but she did perfect in the stroller.

It will vary from baby to baby but our 6 month old can sit in an umbrella stroller for the mall. When we were in WDW in Dec. she was only 4 months old and she did fine in our double stroller. Her car seat clicks into the stroller and we did that a couple of days, but by the end of the week realized that it was much easier to just put her in it without the car seat.

I would think that you wouldn't have any trouble with your D? while in the World. Good luck and CONGRATULATIONS!

At six months, ours was spending most of his time in the sling. However, we do have a stroller that had four different recline positions (including lying down totally flat) and he did fine with that.

Thanks everyone - we'll probably get a double stroller and use it in combination with the sling...

DS was sitting in his stroller around 5 months, maybe a little earlier. He was kind of floppy at that point though, so comfort and padding were pretty important! He didn't sit well in an umbrella type stroller until at least few more months. We took him in a big comfy stroller to WDW at 8.5 mos. but I think this next trip at 14 mos we will use a more lightweight stroller.

Good luck and congrats!

DD would spend much of the time in the stroller with the stroller with the seat reclined or in the front pack at this age. You could put them in the stroller with the seat upright but you might want to do a few test runs to see how your little one likes it before commiting to it.

Our DS was solid from the start. I remember using the stroller in Las Vegas when he was 3 months old and he was sitting up in it (he started sitting up unsupported at 3 months old - was standing holding on to something by 4 months old). We alternated between snapping the carseat on top and using it as a traditional stroller. He was happy both ways. So I'd say for sure, yes at 6 months!

We have a 3yo and a 3.5 mo. We just bought a Chicco Velocita Twin. It's a side-by-side with indepent recline on each side. It can recline to an almost flat position so it's suitable for a very young baby. It also has separate canopies, separate foot rests and a rain cover. The rain cover alone is a great feature because it was kind of tough to find one for a side-by-side.

The stroller is kind of a deluxe umbrella. Lots of nice features, solidly built, but easy to fold and relatively light for a double.

We took a stroller from home for my 3 yr old and it was a lifesaver. So much walking. By third day of trip we also rented 2 of Disney's stroller's which my niece's ages 13 and 6, and my older children ages 9 and 11 took turns riding in. It's miles and miles of walking- even when you stay on property and use disney transpo which drops you so close. I saw even bigger kids than ours in those disney strollers. :) Wished I had one at times. Don't forget super comfy broken in walking shoes and a first aid kit with ointment, bandaids, and most importantly MOLESKIN for any walkers who may begin to develop sore spots from all the trekking.
