How would you spend a VIP tour day?

My DH and I have been saving to be able to do a VIP tour and might be able to afford it in January. Just hoping for some thoughts from you guys on what to use our special access for. We are wanting to do Club 33 and VIP for Fantasmic. Any thoughts? OH and it is a minimum 6 hour tour.

You will not get into Club 33...they were offering that based on availability previously on VIP tours but no longer.

Yeah...take Club 33 off your list.
Are you going early January? F! goes dark on 1/10/2015. If you are going to be there when it is available, I would get VIP seating for that.
My only advice would be to start the tour after lunchtime when the park is busier.

Awh that is a serious bummer about club 33. SO then what are the full benefits of the VIP tour without the super access to clubb 33 and such?

Except you cannot walk on Peter Pan.
Gaining access to Club 33 was never a perk on the VIP tours. If they had some availability, they may have accommodated some guests, but it was never a guarantee.

Personally, my choice is to start the tour about 2pm. Don't use the tour to do rides the guide doesn't have access to. What rides do you love? For instance, once my nieces wanted to ride Screamin' 5 times in a row. Seating to Fireworks? Paint the Night? WOC? Aladdin? You will have access to most rides through the park. Want to ride the Lilly Belle? There are rides that the guide won't be able to access for you, but even then, they can help. For instance, we had a guide get us onto Indy, then went and got in line for Jingle Cruise while we rode, then we only had a couple minute wait for that. Ask your guide, they can help you make reservations for other parts of your trip while with you.

I'm curious...

Why do the guides not have access to some rides? It seems random that they won't allow Peter Pan.

In Fantasyland, access is available to Dumbo, IASW, Storybookland Canal Boats, Matterhorn, and I think Alice (might be Snow White.) I think the issue with certain rides is lack of space. In the Adventureland/NOS/Critter area, Jungle Cruise, Tarzan's Treehouse, and Pooh are the only one limited. In ToonTown, Gadget's isn't on the access list.

In DCA - Mickey's Wheel of Death, the Carousel, the Swings, rides in BugsLand are not accessible by guides.

Tower of Terror, over and over, baby!! Ohhh, and Hyperspace Mountain! I have read that the VIP guides can easily get you on any ride with a Fastpass line, so I would focus on those. And if you aren't into those rides... I don't know how useful an expensive guide would be. If I were you, I might look to save a little cash and sign up for a tour instead, which usually includes a few rides, some Disneyland history, and lunch. Have fun planning!

Is the VIP tour a set rate PER HOUR, regardless of the number of guests? What I mean is, if I wanted to do it would it be more cost effective to gather a group of like minded friends and family and all split the cost, or is it several hundred dollars per person? Does my question make sense?

I believe it's per group at the set rate, but I will defer to someone who has actually done it as opposed to reading others info lol

The price is per hour for a group of 10 guests. There is a 6 hour minimum.

ETA: Didn't scroll down far enough to see your question had been answered already. :flower:

They've recently added character meet & greets to the Plaid's list. So you don't have to wait to meet certain characters. You can also ask to do the Dream Suite since C33 and 1901 are off the list now. If Fantasmic is still playing you can ask to watch it from the Dream Suite as well.

We like to use it to let the kids ride whatever they want for the first couple hours - then they go nap/swim and the adults ride what we want. It's amazing how much you can get done in 6 or 8 hours with a Plaid guide! It averages out to about $3,080 for 8 hours plus tip ($385/hr) so everyone could pitch in $325 if you have 10 people but as @Malcon10t said - EVERYONE counts as a person, so if you have an infant they are counted in the maximum of 10 people.

The official word is you get in fastpass lines. But other guests have reported going in exits. I hope we get the guide that is creative and flexible. We are VIPing on the Saturday before Christmas. Hope we get our money's worth.

You enter the FP line if the ride has FP. If not (like Pirates of the Caribbean), you enter the exit/handicapped line.
Using a VIP Tour guide on the busiest times (like the Saturday before Christmas) is the perfect use of it. I can't imagine it won't be worth it!

That's not actually true. At all.
But I agreee it's worth it.

I'd love for you to let me know how it went and if it was worth it for you
