Last week we spent the week at the beach with my inlaws. While DH and I had our eyes closed, relaxing near the shoreline, my BIL went into my purse, took out my camera and snapped a few pics of us. He left my bag open with some of my stuff out in my beach bag.

It's not the pics that bother me. I feel a woman's purse is off limits. You don't open it without permission. Even my DH won't go in my bag. Yet, when I found out and got mad (after seeing the pics on my camera hours later and realizing why I found my bag open), DH said his brother was trying to do something nice.

How would you feel in this situation?

I would try to understand his motives and try to let it go. But it would be hard. Don't mess with my stuff and taking my picture without me knowing would drive me insane.

Honestly, I would just feel that he was doing something nice and be appreciative that he even wanted to capture those moments between you and DH. After having kids, I learned not much that I have was "private" anymore. I assume he didn't take anything?? If not, I really don't see what to be upset about IMHO. If he took money out or something like that, I would definitely be upset.

I would be annoyed, but not make a big deal out of it. I would just have said to him that I appreciate him wanting to take some pictures of us, but I really don't like other people going through my purse.

ITA.::yes::

And you bring your purse to the beach? :confused3

I think that I would have a problem with someone going through my purse without myknowledge, yep, but I agree with the others in that I wouldn't make a big deal out of it. :)

I have a "beach purse". We put our beach badges on the outside, and it holds our car keys, wallets, chapstick, tissues, cell phone, a credit card for shopping, some cash etc. We don't walk to the beach, it's a drive, and we need stuff.

I just can't imagine going through his wallet without permission, and to me it's the same thing.

You know, this is the second time this week that I've heard of this happening:mad: It would piss me off....stay out of my bag, it's mine :headache:

yeah, normally I dont like people going thru my purse, but I think this was well intended...I'd let it go

:scared1: He must be making the rounds.

I think I would laugh at the pictures and be done with it...I really don't give a rat's hiney who goes through my purse....there isn't anything secret in there.

In this case, I think it was sweet and he meant well. That is assuming he KNEW your camera was there. I also don't care for people in my purse.

Men are not as aware of how important purses are. You must not have any brothers! They are clueless, it doesnt seem like he meant any harm. I would let it go. Tell him it wigs you out, and move on.

There is nothing in my purse that is more important than capturing one of life's moments. My pictures are more precious to me than my money, so I would be more upset to find out that a picture didn't happen because someone didn't want to disturb my stuff.

His wife was sitting next to him, she had a camera he could have used.

OK, I guess I'm wrong. I'll move on. :)

Have I told you lately that I love you? ;);)

You're not wrong to feel irritated. Everyone is allowed their feelings. But you are right to just let it go in the name of harmony.

In the name of harmony I will some day end up biting off my tongue :lmao::lmao:

I'd let it go, but I'd be angry about having my picture taken than the purse thing. I don't consider "beach bags" to have the same level of sanctity as a regular purse, but it is odd that he didn't use their own camera.

Maybe he wanted to use your camera so later on while you were looking through your pictures it would be a surprise.
While I don't care much for people going through my purse, I have no issues with someone going through my beach bag.
